Very Nice AGP Upgrade

SAPPHIRE Radeon X1650PRO 256MB GDDR3 AGP 4X/8X Graphics Card 100174L
SAPPHIRE Radeon X1650PRO 256MB GDDR3 AGP 4X/8X Graphics Card 100174L

Pros: Allows me to run Far Cry and BF 2142 at HIGH settings (I'm at 1024x768 resolution - haven't tried anything else). Works with my 420W (18A) Thermaltake PSU no problems. Not as loud as people make it out - at least I haven't noticed a difference and if anything it is quieter than my old 9800 PRO. Excellent value for money. Easy to install and upgrade, especially if you were already running an ATI card - no need to install software just be sure you already have the latest ATI drivers installed and (on XP) auto detect will do the rest.

Cons: Not the top of the line card but for the money it's a great deal. On a 'silent' machine you could probably hear this - mine wasn't silent to begin with.

Overall Review: Received the card within 48 hrs of placing my order! Very impressive newegg. At the time this had a great rebate from the mfr also... I read some people thought they needed a larger PSU or particularly a larger 12v rail - mine is 420W with an 18A rail and I've had no problems at all. Came with a ton of different adapters and cables which was nice. A very good looking card - actually feels like you're getting some muscle - ok so I'm just upgrading from a 9800 PRO. Turning up the detail on BF 2142 and Far Cry really makes a big difference! Next up - Call of Duty 2 and Tomb Raider: Anniversary...

Pros: I was just perusing my newegg orders in search of something else when I came across my order of this drive back in 2005. My PC's have come and gone since then but this drive remains. It's been painted black so it's not pretty. It's also not the fastest or most up-to-date drive. But heck it's been running strong since '05 with nary a hiccup. It's quiet, it does what it's told, and by golly it just works. I can't say that for the card reader I was searching in my history for and have just made an order to replace...

Cons: it *was* beige which wasn't really a con back in '05 when purchased! ;)

Overall Review: if NEC was still in the drive making bidnis I'd purchase more of these. I've gone through many "lite-ons" where the "lite" just went off one day. That or they sounded like a freight train on the way to Frisco. This thing is unnoticeable when it spins up or when it's burning...

Works great once installed correctly

MASSCOOL VF1-PLUS Dual Heat Pipes VGA Cooler
MASSCOOL VF1-PLUS Dual Heat Pipes VGA Cooler

Pros: Not as large as the Accelero S1 on my other GPU. Lots of install options. Dropped temps about 10-15C from my stock cooling fan. CHEAP

Cons: Medium-high level of installation difficulty. Can't be used as passive only cooling solution. Included fan works great but could be too large for some cases. Moderate sound level (not bad on a gaming machine with other fans though) when the fan is set on medium.

Overall Review: I have a dual-GPU crossfire setup (2x ATI 3780 overclocked) and was hoping for another (cheaper) passive solution like the Accelero S1. Unfortunately no matter how I mounted this unit, I could not achieve good results until I installed the barrel fan. For crossfire, I had to use the dongle on the bridge closest to the end of the card *and* I had to cut away part of the fan/mounting hardware. The unit w/fan (on medium setting) in a crossfire setup (overclocked) gets idle temps in the upper 30's lower 40's celsius and during gaming it never tops 60 but stays in the mid 50's. This is only a few degrees higher than my Accelero (although it doesn't require a fan). It fit in my case just fine and because of my other case fans etc. the barrel fan on medium didn't add much to the overall noise level. Would have preferred not to have to use the barrel fan but the unit only has the 2 heat pipes and the fins are so close together its hard to get air in to cool it without a direct fan

solid drive, noisy

LITE-ON 20X DVD±R DVD Burner 20X DVD+R 8X DVD+RW 8X DVD+R DL 20X DVD-R 6X DVD-RW 16X DVD-ROM 48X CD-R 32X CD-RW 48X CD-ROM Black IDE Model DH-20A4P-04

Pros: Good compatibility with various media +R, -R, etc. and good write speeds. It looks and feels like a solid drive and I haven't had a noticeable problem with bad burns at all.

Cons: NOISY. I had this installed in my Dell at work which is a quiet case and it was tolerable but when I moved it to my performance case at home (ie. more airflow) the noise was like WOW. The spin-up time seems a little slow also.

Overall Review: I must like it because I'm buying another one. My other DVD burner is another major brand and the only thing I like better about it is the noise level.
