Pros: It is a new i7, has a good screen resolution (1920 x 1080), a good size hard drive (1 TB), and has dual band 802.11AC. The sound is also decent compared to other laptops I have used. I was able to install Arch Linux on it with no problem after I disabled UEFI. I was able to utilize the dual GPU (Intel and NVIDIA) even though it is tricky with Linux. It supports 6 Gbps SATA (revision 3) if you have plans to change the hard drive.
Cons: Minus one egg because of the difficulty in upgrading the memory. It took a lot of time. The memory slots and hard drive are not easy accessible through a simple removable panel. The touchpad does not have physically separate left and right buttons and is a bit large for me, but I know some people like both of those feature.
Overall Review: I installed Arch Linux and upgraded the memory immediately after it arrived. Until there is better support for UEFI I would switch to the legacy BIOS boot to save yourself trouble if installing Linux. I never booted into Windows with this laptop. I probably spent more time tweaking the Synaptics touchpad config after installing the OS than anything else. Be prepared to edit your X11 config file. To upgrade the memory I used 16 GB of G.SKILL F3-1866C10D-16GRSL. It was no problem once I actually removed all the screws and disconnected multiple ribbons and cables to get to the memory slots. Be very careful and I hope you are dexterous.
Pros: Inexpensive compared to other MICR toner options. It works well before running out.
Cons: We have gone through two of these at less than half the approximate page yield for both cartridges. I was hoping the first one was just defective.
Overall Review: LD Products was responsive to our support request and did send us a replacement cartridge quickly.
Pros: It is very fast over USB 3 and works as expected. The extra USB port can be helpful if have don't have very many free ports left on your computer.
Cons: None so far. It is slightly slower than a true 1Gb Ethernet card.
Overall Review: If you are using Linux or BSD, depending on your kernel version, you may have to take a few extra steps to make the adapter work. It comes up as ASIX Elec. AX88179 in Linux.
Pros: We ordered a couple of these and they have worked with no problems so far. They are very bright green laser pointers.
Cons: None so far.
Overall Review: They are very bright green laser pointers that we use for presentations in very large meeting rooms (hold ~3,000 people). Many people use these as a better alternative to the red laser pointers. Do not point these at or near anyone's eyes!
Pros: Came with Windows 7 Professional. The wireless card inside is dual band (a/b/g/n). The laptop did not have too much crapware installed on it. So far no problems.
Cons: We upgraded the memory as soon as we recieved the laptop. It was cheaper to buy extra RAM instead of trying to find a similar laptop with more memory already installed. The upgrade was very easy.
Overall Review: We will likely go with Lenovo ThinkPad T Series again.
Pros: Sturdy construction and works at 1Gb with our current equipment.
Overall Review: Works for our short patching needs. We have not been able to test this with 10Gb hardware yet.
Pros: It works up to, and slightly beyond, its recommended distance for 1080p (60Hz). We were able to get a bit more than 75 feet out of it.
Cons: None. Works as expected.
Overall Review: We would buy this passive receiver again for similar distances. For longer distances you must go with the active receiver. From what I have seen, the shielding of the Ethernet cables does matter. Cheaper cables will probably degrade the signal more quickly. Stick with Cat5e/6/6a if possible to get the most distance.
Pros: So far no problems. The building we work in has spikes sometimes. Since using these we have not had any damage to computers or other hardware plugged in.
Cons: No so far.
Overall Review: We don't use the coax or RJ-11 connections so I can not comment on them. We have had no problems with all of our CyberPower branded equipment.
Pros: They support Gigabit speed with no problem. The ends connect securely and are snagless.
Overall Review: Note that these are Cat 6A (augmented) and should support up to 10 Gbps speeds. We can not test the 10Gbit ability yet because we do not have the hardware yet. We are optimistic though.
Pros: This wireless router is extremely fast and has good range on the 5GHz frequency. We never have to touch them after they have been set up.
Cons: None so far. A little expensive but worth it.
Overall Review: We use these at our large conferences to handle our thousands of attendees. We also use them in our office to provide wireless in the office. We have owned the prior Asus model (before AC) as well and it was just as good. Asus has been making some very good routers lately.
Pros: We have had this switch for almost a year now with no problems. It is fast, reliable, quiet, and green (low power). The admin interface is actually not terrible. I have seen some really bad ones over the years.
Cons: So far we have had no technical problems.
Overall Review: We do use them as managed switches currently but it is good to know that we can if needed. We do use the statics to monitor the network for anything weird. We will be buying another one soon to replace an older 100 Mb switch.
Pros: The server is stable and has no problems.
Overall Review: We used this memory as part of our virtual server host build. So far it has 100% stable.
- SUPERMICRO MBD-H8SGL-F-O ATX Server Motherboard Socket G34 AMD SR5650 DDR3 1333
Pros: This is a good quality inexpensive motherboard for a virtual machine host. It works perfectly with Ubuntu and VirtualBox hosting 5 virtual machines (so far) using a 12 core processor and 32 GB RAM. We have no problems after running it for four months so far.
Cons: None so far. Very happy.
Overall Review: We would buy this again if the need came up.

Pros: This is a high quality power supply for a low price. It is also more efficient and quieter then others. Rated for more than 10 years of use.
Overall Review: This is an excellent power supply for low power NAS that is on 24/7. I am buying another one for a HTPC.
Pros: Works well for an efficient NAS that runs FreeNAS in our small office. So far no problems with speed or stability.
Overall Review: Since we are using this as a NAS that will be on 24/7 I made sure to get a good power supply, memory, and hard drives for this build. Heat should not be a problem but it does have decent fans in the case since there are four hard drives in a somewhat tight space.
Pros: We bought two of these motherboards and both work well with Ubuntu 10.04 LTS and 12.04 LTS (beta). No driver or stability problems.
Cons: Wish it had eSATA port.
Overall Review: We bought two of these for workstations in the office that are running Ubuntu. They are used for general IT support and host virtual machines using VirtualBox.
CPU: AMD FX-6100 Zambezi 3.3GHz Socket AM3+ 95W Six-Core Desktop Processor FD6100WMGUSBX
Memory: G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Desktop Memory Model F3-10666CL7D-8GBRH
Pros: Very quiet and inexpensive.
Overall Review: Replaced dying case fan with this one. I should have replaced it sooner just because it makes less noise.
Pros: The flashlight lasts at least 2 hours with no signs of dimming if fully charged. It is compact and light weight. It does not block other outlets when plugged in.
Overall Review: Overall it is a good long lasting flashlight for the price and should work well if the electricity goes out for a long period of time. It can be stay in nightlight mode while plugged in so it stays charged and is easy to find if the electricity goes out.
Pros: This is the drum unit for the Brother HL 2040/2070N, FAX 2820/2920, MFC 7220/7225N/7420/7820N DCP 7020. The drum unit appears to be perfectly compatible with the Brother branded version.
Cons: This is not a toner cartridge as it says in the product description. I ordered the wrong item. Look for TN350 instead.
Pros: Dual band works with no problems. It allows for multiple SSIDs on each band if needed. Longer range then any of our other N routers. Their firmware is actually pretty good but I can not wait to put DD-WRT on them. These routers can handle between 30 and 50 active wireless users with no problem as long as they are divided between the two bands. Lots of memory and very fast processor inside.
Cons: The only downside is that so far DD-WRT does not work yet. I hope that will change soon. I have read OpenWRT works on this router but I have not tried it.
Overall Review: We now have 10 of these routers and all of them have worked very well. This is by far the best router I have found. If you can not afford this one then take a look at the WNDR3300 which is also very good. A common complaint is that the 5 GHz radio has less range. This is physics and can really only be increased with larger antennas or more power. The trade off is that this band is much less crowded and more reliable when you are connected.
Pros: Good quality mouse for a low price. Larger then most mice and fits my hand very well. I have had it for over 6 months with no problems.
Overall Review: I use this mouse all day for work and have not any problems so far. I do not use it for gaming but if I did need a mouse for that this would be at the top of my list.
Pros: We bought a bunch of these for our office. They are inexpensive and work well. Long cord.
Overall Review: Will probably order some more this year.
Pros: We bought a bunch of these for our office. They are inexpensive and work well. Very long cord.
Overall Review: Ordered 4 originally and will probably order some more.
Pros: This laptop has had no problems so far. The size, speed, and battery life are a perfect combination for my traveling.
Cons: I wish it had bluetooth avaliable and 1 GB of RAM. I will probably upgrade the amount of RAM in the near future.
Overall Review: I would buy this laptop again. Extremely fast shipping by Newegg. Everything I order seems to make it at least a day ahead of schedual.
Pros: Best Gigabit switch for the price. No problems.
Overall Review: I would buy switch again as soon as the need came up.
