Very Nice

Verbatim 4.7GB 8X DVD-R 100 Packs Spindle Disc Model 94985
Verbatim 4.7GB 8X DVD-R 100 Packs Spindle Disc Model 94985

Comments: These are top quality MCC discs. Just finished the last disc in the spindle. Not one coaster, most burned at greater than 8x avg. All were software verified, and about 10 have been played all the way through on my PS2 with no problems (all 100 are movie dvd's). The spindle came damaged however, plastic cover and base are cracked and won't lock together. It was packaged very well by newegg, it was probably very abused during shipping. Here is a typical burn: - Destination Device: [0:0:0] _NEC DVD_RW ND-3540A 1.01 (D:) (ATA) - Destination Media Type: DVD-R (Disc ID: MCC 02RG20) (Speeds: 2x, 4x, 6x, 8x, 12x) - Destination Media Sectors: 2,298,496 - Operation Successfully Completed! - Duration: 00:07:04 - Average Write Rate: 12,639 KB/s (9.1x) - Maximum Write Rate: 17,201 KB/s (12.4x) - Verifying Sectors... - Operation Successfully Completed! - Duration: 00:06:25 - Average Verify Rate: 11,884 KB/s (8.6x) - Maximum Verify Rate: 15,415 KB/s (11.1x)

PC Power & Cooling Silencer 750 EPS12V 750W EPS12V SLI Certified CrossFire Ready Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Newegg backs their sales at least.

Cons: Just under 3 months of use and this thing died on me. Took out 700+ GB of data and a really nice pair of G.Skill D9GMH *cries* At least my x1900xt didn't get fried I guess.

Overall Review: I can't believe it took out one drive array and not the other more sensitive 4 drive raid 0.. well at least I didn't lose that other 1.2 TB of data. The whole reason I bought a PC P&C supply was to give me piece of mind hooking 7 hard drives up to quality power.. Now I am very disillusioned. I still can't believe this thing died and my AB9 Pro piece of junk that was hooked up to it is still trucking along.

DOA

Pros: n/a

Cons: First one was DOA. I loathe RMA's. Newegg shipped the second one ground.. took 12 days to get here.

Overall Review: I only needed this to boot a board with no onboard video that i use as a backup storage server, and I didn't really appreciate going weeks without backing up to this box.

Decent Burner , Probably one of the best

Pros: Produces quality DVD±R burns. Reliable, so far, only owned it about 2 months but I have burned over 200 dvd's. This drive, for me anyway, likes DVD+R media the best. So far I have used and had best results with "MCC 003" 8x Ver*atim brandded burned at 8x.

Cons: Disc Quality testing with this drive isn't very reliable or consistant. Bitsetting/Book Type changes cannot be made with stock NEC firmware for DVD+R. Poor performance with "MCC 02RG20" Ver*atim branded 8x DVD-R. Maby I just got a bad spindle though.. A lot of the discs wont play in the 2 standalone players I have, however they play fine in PS2 and computer drives.

Overall Review: This drive has great community support over at cdfreaks.com , I highly recommend reading the review there and some of the posts in the NEC forum on that site to get a better feel about how this drive performs.

Comments: Yes this is one quality PSU. I am running a Pentium D 820 , 2x 250GB raid array, dvd rom, cdrw, gefoce 6600GT. I can run 2 copies of folding@home and play BF2 while ripping a cd in the background and this thing still doesn't vary over 3% on any voltage line. Incredible. I'm swear I am drawing at least 8A on the 12V1 line, no problems at all! I have gone through 2 cheap 500W+ supplies in the past, with less power hungry rigs. Quality >> Wattage rating. I will never buy anything but seasonic again.

Comments: OK.. I finally have this thing up and running the way I want, 4 frustrating weeks and one dead psu later. I have run into so many obscure problems I can't even remember them all any more. The most time comsuming/wierd ones were: hitatchi drives in factory default 1.5Gb/s mode cause blue screen wtih matrix storage driver 5.00 and earlier. The link on intel's website still goes to the 5.0.0 driver, you have to search for the 5.1 raid drivers.. Or use hitatchi feature tool to change hd mode to 3.0Gb/s. That drove me almost nuts lol. The bios also is.. shaky at best. Things need a little work, if this was software it would still be in beta! Well now that everything is up and running, this is very very nice with an 820 chip + raid setup + dual channel ram for the price.
