good choice for linux server
Pros: Inexpensive. Realtek RTL-8169 chipset is supported by the linux kernel.
Cons: Still looking .......
plays nicely with linux
Pros: Moderately priced. ACPI aware. VIA Velocity chipset is supported in the linux kernel. Comes with driver source and a user's guide in pdf format.
Cons: I'm still thinking about that. Hold on.........
Supported in linux
Pros: Cheap!!! Realtek RTL-8139 chipset is supported in the linux kernel, no extra software necessary.
Cons: Just a basic NIC, no bells or whistles.
Good value for the money
Pros: They run quietly and keep up with normal demands in a 3.2 GHz Athlon-64 system.
Cons: The connector on the drive will break off given the slightest encouragement. Do not hook these drives up until you are through shoving all your cables and wiring harnesses around.
Darn near foolproof
Pros: This item comes with the appropriate heatsink/fan assembly. Open the socket, match the triangle on the chip to the triangle on the socket, close the socket, snap on the heatsink, plug in the fan, done!
Cons: Costs more than a trusty old 486 chip.
Overall Review: Works with Fedora Core 5 x86_64.
