OK keyboard. Mouse not so much

Cooler Master MasterSet MS120 Gaming RGB Keyboard & Mouse, Clicky Mem-chanical Switches, Precision Pixart Sensor with Omron Mouse Switches & On-the-fly DPI settings
Cooler Master MasterSet MS120 Gaming RGB Keyboard & Mouse, Clicky Mem-chanical Switches, Precision Pixart Sensor with Omron Mouse Switches & On-the-fly DPI settings

Pros: My first reaction to the Cooler Master MS120 set is that the keyboard feels fairly heavy. The keys stand up proud of the plastic base and there are no multimedia keys or programmable keys. The bottom has two small rubber feet and two substantial snap up pegs to hold it up for more comfortable typing. One nice thing is that all the RGB options are in the keyboard. There is no need to load a program into the System tray. You can adjust color, intensity, speed and choose the particular RGB pattern that strikes your fancy. It does the usual RGB tricks just like my much more expensive Corsair mechanical keyboard. These dances of color are mesmerizing when you first get the keyboard and you’ll invite all your friends over and they’ll ohh and ahh appropriately. Then one day you’ll get tired of them and set the keyboard to one color and get on with your life. But they are really cool. The new thing about this keyboard is the switches. They are combination of mechanical and membrane, thus the ‘mem-chanical’ tag. To be honest, when you’re typing it’s hard to tell what you have. They are clicky but the click is sort of anemic although it’s there and I suppose you can convince yourself you’re using a pure mechanical keyboard. The thing is the click comes a split second before the key bottoms out and it just feels strange if you’ve ever used a mechanical keyboard. The right hand only mouse also does not require a tray app. You can adjust the DPI 3 ways and it appears the color on the wheel of the mouse and under your palm changes to represent which DPI setting you have chosen. There is also an RGB strip at the bottom back of the mouse that can be changed to any color you wish but does not pulse or any other function.

Cons: Mouse is cheap feeling and light. It seems more suited to being included as a freebee when you buy the keyboard and is certainly not up its level of finish. Think of what kind of mouse you get if you buy an OEM computer and that’s what this mouse reminds me of. Also, none of the DPI settings seemed to make general typing easier. It was too difficult to highlight a word or character with any of the three settings. One was far too slow to use and the other was far too fast. The middle setting seemed the best but it still made the cursor skittish. The fact the mouse was so light it seemed to float around on my desk didn’t help easier. I don’t particularly like the sound the keyboard keys make. It’s certainly not the sound a real mechanical keyboard makes, more a sort of anemic snick. And even though the keyboard is heavy it seems cheap. The space bar rattles and the keys feel flimsy. Finally, the USB cords are cheap looking plastic. The cords are stiff and in the week I used the Cooler Master MS120 set they never really straightened out and got any softer.

Overall Review: First off let me say the keyboard and mouse in the Cooler Master MS120 set worked every time and worked perfectly. I gamed with them and typed with them and they never let me down. This is a medium priced kit and for the money it worked as advertised. My comments about the bargain basement feel of the mouse do not take away from the fact it worked fine. I wouldn’t use this set on a serious gaming machine. The keyboard seems fragile and the snick, snick of the keys bothers me. I’d be afraid too much pounding on it would break it. Now that’s just my humble opinion. It works and works well. The RGB effects are as good as my much more expensive Corsair mechanical keyboard and to get that to do RGB tricks requires a program in the computer. To be honest my girlfriend loves the Cooler Master MS120, at least the keyboard. She’s already claimed it. The mouse is not as well loved. Once again it works perfectly. But it’s light and cheap looking and seems more suited to being included with an inexpensive desk top. Left handers do not need to apply. I’d say for light office duty it’s fine and with the added bonus of RGB elements. The price of this kit is modest but if it was up to me, I’d spend the money on a low level real mechanical keyboard and skip the mouse.

Most Critical Review

A disappointing purchase.

Motorola Droid Pro XT610 Unlocked GSM Android Cell Phone 3.1" Black
Motorola Droid Pro XT610 Unlocked GSM Android Cell Phone 3.1" Black

Pros: This is well designed and good looking phone plagued by a known problem (see below).

Cons: Be aware that at least this unlocked phone is warranted by a company called PDAGiant that has a bad reputation with the BBB. My sound on my phone stopped working after I installed the included headphones and it took some detective work to find PDAGiant. Their solution was to probe in the headphone jack with a narrow wooden stick. Needless to say I'm not going to do this on a new and expensive phone. I finally got the speaker working after a lot of research on the net. Be aware this a problem with Motorola Droid phones and there is no permanent solution.

Overall Review: I am disappointed in New Egg for doing business with a company like PDAGiant and would recommend you look elsewhere for an unlocked cellphone.

Great SSD dubious name

Solidigm P44 Pro 1TB M.2 2280 PCIe 4.0 NVMe Gen4 Gaming TLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) SSDPFKKW010X7X1
Solidigm P44 Pro 1TB M.2 2280 PCIe 4.0 NVMe Gen4 Gaming TLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) SSDPFKKW010X7X1

Pros: The SSD arrives in a fairly sturdy cardboard box. Inside is the product box with all the details in full color. Inside that box is the SSD in a plastic holder. A small installation guide and warranty booklet is included in various languages. There is no mounting screw included. The SSD is single sided with a paper label on top. There is no attempt at any form of heatsink. I installed the SSD on a unit with an ASUS Z590-Plus WiFi and an 11th gen Intel i7 processor. It had a 3rd gen WD black drive. When I first installed the Solidigm SSD, I got nothing. It wasnt picked up by the BIOS. This sent me checking the setup since Z590 boards wont pick up a 4th gen SSD without an 11th Gen proc. Everything was correct so I tried again, wiggling the SSD around to make sure it was seated. This time it worked and loading Windows 11 was a snap. This particular SSD has a unique driver so I installed. It worked fine without it however. My preferred setup is to create a 4TB Windows partition and the other 6tbs for games and data. The Solidigm SSD is indeed fast. Theres really no need to benchmark further them good old reliable Crystal Diskmark. The Solidigm drive showed 7200 MB/s read and 6700 MB/s write. That is approximately double the speeds I was getting for the 3rd gen WD black. For comparison, my main gaming system with a Z690 motherboard and a 12th gen 12900 i9 and 4080 video card can only muster 6600MB/s write and 5000 MB/s write from a Samsung 1TB 980 Pro. Now this great but I will temper it with the fact I can discern no real difference in speed between the 3rd and 4th gen drives. Theyre already so fast that everyday tasks like opening files or saving files all seem to take the same time. Strangely enough when I was downloading the drivers I saw reference to the old Intel SSDs so Im assuming these are updated versions of those, The brown box the drive arrived in should have been a dead giveaway.

Cons: This just may be me, but the name seems a bit poorly chosen.

Overall Review: In conclusion, this is a fine SSD. Its blazing fast and not outrageously expensive. Installation was a breeze outside of my first failed attempt. Im thinking that brand name recognition might be a problem. You dont think Solidigm when shopping so you might go right past this one. A big thumbs up.

A tale of woe and misfortune

CORSAIR Vengeance 32GB (2 x 16GB) 262-Pin DDR5 SO-DIMM DDR5 4800 (PC4 38400) Laptop Memory Model CMSX32GX5M2A4800C40
CORSAIR Vengeance 32GB (2 x 16GB) 262-Pin DDR5 SO-DIMM DDR5 4800 (PC4 38400) Laptop Memory Model CMSX32GX5M2A4800C40

Pros: This is going to be a horror tale of what happens if you trust information. It starts with me wanting to increase the capacity of my Dell XPS 15 9520 from 16 gigs to the 32 gigs of the kit in this review. The first thing to understand is that these particular sodimms have heatsinks, despite looking like they do in the picture. The PCB is black. Other than that, they appear totally ordinary.

Cons: I called Dell to ensure the Vengeance ram was compatible with the DDR 5 in my laptop and was assured it was OK. Both were 4800Mhz so there seemed no problems. The XPS 15 computer was new with a core i9 and a 3050ti video card. It worked just fine so I removed the back cover and easily changed the 2 dimms. Then I switched it back on and although I got the Dell logo, the computer hung there, mocking at me. So I put the 2 original sodimms back and although now I could get back into the BIOS, the computer could no longer find the Samsung SSD. Nothing could convince it to boot so I did the one thing that every user hates, I called Dell tech since the laptop was still under the Premium warranty. This was akin to an Indian accented Keystone comedy. The main problem is that my Internet connection is still out because of Hurricane Ian. Im getting limited, slow Internet using tethering with tethering on my cell phone. But it simply uses to download the image they need to restore the Windows installation. Finally today I finally got them to send me a box to ship my hideously expensive laptop to get it fixed.

Overall Review: Oh, and they said the Vengeance ram was not compatible with the XPs 15. So here I am with no laptop and some expensive ram that is used virtually nowhere. Im not even sure if its functional. Im not saying the ram killed my Dell but it sure as heck seems it played some part in it. All I can say is make doubly sure its compatibly where you want to use. I have always been a kind of fanboy for Corsair and this wont change my opinion but it has sure messed my life up. I apologize for the absolutely horrible picture, I quickly took the photo and didnt check it. Then I had all the program and until putting this review up I never looked at it and by now Ive put all the little screws back in the body.

Usual Corsair quality

CORSAIR RM850 CP-9020235-NA 850 W ATX 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Power Supply
CORSAIR RM850 CP-9020235-NA 850 W ATX 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Power Supply

Pros: The first thing you notice in taking the RM850 out of the box is the weight. It has that premium heft to, solid and heavy. This isnt one of those inexpensive power supplies that seem to be no more than a metal box with a few heatsinks inside. First inspection shows the historic beveled edges design with no bling, just purpose built and classy white legends and a small information label on the top. The power supply is 6 ½ inches in length so its slightly longer then ordinary supplies so make sure you check. The box contents are sparse. There is the bag of modular cables, a stout power cord and very small bag of zip ties and black anodized mounting screws. There is also a small booklet labeled Important Information that holds the warranty and safety information in a dozen languages. There was no user manual, which I am used to finding but never open anyway. The modular cables are the by now familiar black flat ribbon design and they are labeled for the noobs not familiar with modular power supply. There are (4) SATA cables, (1) molex cable and strangely enough (3) of the 8 pin auxiliary CPU power cables. This is a first for me but then maybe some of the new, high end motherboards require (3) cables. Also, surprisingly for a power supply of this magnitude, there are only (2) PCIe video card cables. I guess SLI really is dead. Also this the first power supply that doesnt include an adaptor for a floppy connector. Also not included is the old Corsair vinyl pouch to hold the cables you are not using. The modular cables are a reasonably tight fit and clip into the power supply easily. No fighting to get the connectors in or out. Something else I like is that the (3) CPU 8 pin power Aux cables have clips to hold the 2 (4) pin conns on the motherboard side together. Ive said a few salty words fighting to get these conns seated when the 2 (4) pin ends are just meant to sit next to each other. The Aux CPU cables are approximately 26 inches long so they should stretch from a bottom power supply mounting location up to the top of the motherboard. I dont currently have a high powered computer on the bench. The only system I have currently being built is a Ryzen 3 3200G system with an ASUS A320I-K motherboard in a NZXT 520 air case. The RM850 is overkill for this system but Ill soldier on. The NEXT 520 Air is a small mid tower and the power supply goes under a shroud on the bottom. The power supply fam faces down and breathes through a filter. Check your cases but it seems like 75% of the cases out there are this configuration. So why is the printing on the side of power supply upside down? I know this is the back of the case and covered by the side panel but still It also shows how far I have to go to find something to complain about. The cables all fit just fine and of course there was plenty of power. I know this for a fact because I must have turned the power supply on and off fifty times while dealing with a BIOS update problem.

Cons: Printing is upside down

Overall Review: Corsair is one of those companies that seems to be everywhere. They make so many different computer products that you cant escape the. They are also one of those companies that I know I can trust. I keep returning to their power supplies and memory and cases and All in One cooling units. I have 4 systems at my house and 3 of them have Corsair power supplies. They just work. This one is the same. Its quality built and solid and you just know its going to work. Thats enough for m e.

This is not a new drive

Came in a sealed anti static bag and well wrapped in bubble wrap. But drive is definitely not new. It had two partitions on it. Haven't had time to check hours used but will report back on that. This makes me angry because I scrutinized the ad to see if it was a used drive. Very disappointed.

Not the right thing

The case was too small. I reread the description and it did not specifically mention the Surface 3 Pro but the description was badly worded and easy to misinterpret. It was ultimately my mistake so I only took off 1 star for the ambiguous description. The price was so low it wasn't worth taking up with the seller.
