Newegg and Rosewill have great customer service
Pros: great customer service
Cons: I wrote the review about the card saying that it didn't work for RAID-1. This is an addendum to say that although I was disappointed with the card, I'm not with Newegg or Rosewill. Both companies have great customer service. Rosewill offered to send me a replacement card. Newegg offered me full refund for it. I now have confidence that if I buy something from Newegg or Rosewill and it doesn't work, I will be made whole.
no product key for windows
Pros: laptop works fine
Cons: It comes with windows 7 Pro 64-bit yet the product codes affixed to the back are for Windows Vista and Windows Home Premium. I have been trying to get the product code for Windows 7 Pro emailed to me. Contacted Newegg. Was told to contact US Micro. US Micro didn't respond. When I called their number, I kept getting routed to a message saying to leave a voice message. Left message to call me back but nobody call back. Have been trying for more than a week. This is really frustrating. Will return the darn thing. The reason I bought from Newegg rather than get it cheaper somewhere else is so that I don't have to go through all this hassle. It turned out that even though the laptop was sold by Newegg, it was refurbished and shipped by US Micro.
Card doesn't work as advertised - can't do raid-1
Pros: Price
Cons: I tried to create a Raid-1 array, with a 1.5Tb WD source drive and a 1.5Tb Seagate target drive. Doing that from the Bios gave me back an error - failed to synchronize drives. This happened after about 15min into the process. I then booted into Windows XP and tried to use the VIA sw that came with the CD to do the mirroring. Like another reviewer - Ryan - experienced, this is taking forever. I have left this running for a day now, and it is showing only 5% done. I'm giving up on it.
Good return policy
Bought a refurbished laptop from this seller. Unfortunately, the display on this laptop has something wrong with it, always showing a shadow like you're looking at it from an angle. Asked for a RMA and got full refund within 2 weeks of shipping the laptop back. Hence giving the seller a high rating.
