Most Favorable Review

Very good receiver overall, few quirks

Yamaha RX-A2000 AVENTAGE 7.2 -Channel Home Theater Receiver - Black
Yamaha RX-A2000 AVENTAGE 7.2 -Channel Home Theater Receiver - Black

Pros: Very good sound quality. Better menu system than previous year models. Very good network features. Parametric equalizer and many audio tweaking options. Internet radio, HD radio

Cons: Remote control! Yamaha used to make better remote controls five years ago. My RX-V2500 that was cheaper and had a nice lighted remote. But this one is clunky, hard to press buttons, no back lighting. Almost useless LCD screen. To make things worse, they have some buttons under flip door. Come on Yamaha, we need a better remote control! Missing THX features. Video settings are pretty nascent (just a scale of 1 to 6, quite useless especially if you have a good Blueray player.)

Overall Review: iPhone app is an excellent value add and has more functions than Denon or Pioneer. Nice web interface suitable for tablets and smart phones, even if you don't have an iPhone.

Most Critical Review

Not yet ready for prime time

HP MediaSmart EX495, Windows Home Server w/ Intel Pentium Dual Core 2.5 Ghz 64-bit 2GB DDR2 1.5TB HDD installed (three open bay), 4 USB & 1 eSATA expansion ports , Mac Compatible, TiVO support
HP MediaSmart EX495, Windows Home Server w/ Intel Pentium Dual Core 2.5 Ghz 64-bit 2GB DDR2 1.5TB HDD installed (three open bay), 4 USB & 1 eSATA expansion ports , Mac Compatible, TiVO support

Pros: Very good form factor, expandability, standard iterface, gigabit ethernet, low power consumption, remote (web) access.

Cons: Media collector is quirky and needs baby sitting. I had strange errors with networking and .net. Challenges with interacting with Windows 7 out of the box. Huge disappointment with HD video streaming to PS3 (at least I wasn't able to make it work)

Overall Review: May be I should wait for the next version of WHS (Vail?). This one is going back. For $600+ price, HP could have thrown in E7xxx cpu which is still 65W instead of E5200. I wish Microsoft would combine WHS with Media Center PC so that it would be part of Home Entertainment system with a TV tuner / Blue ray, etc. I would like to reduce the redundancy of having multiple computers.

Works as advertised

G.SKILL 8GB (2 x 4GB) 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Laptop Memory Model F3-10666CL9D-8GBSQ

Pros: Works without any issues with my Lenovo T510, even when added to existing RAM from another manufacturer. No crashes or BSODs.

Cons: None

Works as expected

Kingston 2GB Unbuffered DDR2 667 (PC2 5300) System Specific Memory for Lenovo Model KTL-TP667/2G

Pros: No issues at all with my T60 Thinkpad

Cons: None

Overall Review: Ironically my T60 only recognizes 3GB max. I am stuck with it for now.
