Excellent for AM3 GigaByte MB

G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL9D-4GBNQ
G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL9D-4GBNQ

Pros: Memory worked right out of the package. Of course I follow a strick procedure everytime so I could isolate each SDRAM. USE A GROUND STRAP ON YOUR WRIST! 1. Install and test EACH SDRAM, one at a time. 2. After each checks out, then install 2, then add another until all are installed checking configuration after each install. 3. BIOS mem settings: Make sure you set to MANUAL at 1st bootup. I set mine to these and worked with Win7 on GigaByte MB immediately after setting speed to 1600 MHz FSB:DRAM: 1:4 CL: 9 clocks tRCD: 9 clocks tRP: 9 clocks tRAS: 24 clocks tRC: 30 clocks CR: 2T Ran full load tests and Prime95 for 4 hours on each SDRAM, and then 24 hours straight on all 4 SDRAMS installed for 8 GB total on Win 7-64bit. This memory is fast! There is faster G.SKILLS available, but for the money a couple of microseconds on the RAS rates is not that important. I run two VS compilers, stream video, and play games AT THE SAME TIME and still more memory available.

Cons: None

Keeps Phenom II X2 Very Cooool!

CORSAIR Hydro Series H50 120mm Quiet Edition Liquid CPU Cooler - Intel Only (CW-9060006-WW)

Pros: Out performs all reviews I've seen so far and price is perfect. AM3 Phenom II X2 Overclocked to 3.7 GHz Results: Stock AMD CPU Cooler: Idle 29C, Load 51C Corsair CH50 CPU Cooler: Idle 21C, Load 37C This is with neither of the surfaces Lapped, which is the next chore.

Cons: None. Complaints I've seen about stiff lines are very petty. I like the stiff lines because with flexible lines come sag and the need to add additional restraints and guides.

CORSAIR HX Series HX850 850 W ATX12V 2.3 / EPS12V 2.91 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Plenty of power and very quiet for it's size. Modular is always a plus. Highest quality I've seen in a long time. You definitely get what you pay for. I put a LeCroix scope on this and the power curve is very clean and rise/fall response times are impressive. It handles everything I can throw at it, although I have not put in a second XFire video card yet. I do have this in a HAF 922 case which allows plenty of room. I also have 3 exhaust fans, top, side, and optional bottom so air flow is much better than most mid-towers. Great set of cables of sufficient lengths. I'd recommend this to any system builder.

Cons: NONE

Awesome CPU!

AMD Phenom II X2 550 - Phenom II X2 Callisto Dual-Core 3.1 GHz Socket AM3 80W Desktop Processor - HDX550WFGMBOX

Pros: For a Dual core you can't beat the RTOI - Price vs. Performance. I might try to unlock the possible other cores, but didn't buy this with that intent. Overclocked to 3.7 GHz in less than 5 min and steady as a rock and fast! Using the GigaByte MB and CPU cooler listed below have rock solid performer. Can run 2 VS IDEs at the same time, stream video and audio, and play games at full speed and this CPU/MB/Mem/cooler combo handles it all.

Cons: Don't buy this CPU 'planning' on unlocking extra cores since only about 15-20% of the chips coming off the manufacturing line are unlockable and of those only 50-60% are stable and error free. But if you get them to work, you just got an extra CPU core or 2 for the price of a dual core. I worked at Intel for several years and have systems built around Intel and AMD CPUs, and for the money, you can't beat the AMD price vs. performace curve. Been building systems since 80386 days and have built 2074 systems, so if system cost is high on your priority list, this is a great buy for $88 as long as you get a quality stable MB. Get documented compatible DDR3 memory and you can't go wrong.

Best AM3 MB out there!

GIGABYTE GA-MA790GPT-UD3H AM3 AMD 790GX HDMI ATX AMD Motherboard
GIGABYTE GA-MA790GPT-UD3H AM3 AMD 790GX HDMI ATX AMD Motherboard

Pros: This motherboard is top quality and robust. Great many configuration options. The price is right in the center of the bell curve for quality boards. This board shines in many areas, does many things very well. Excellent job on the manual. Built in video card works very well even on some games. Turned off onboard VGA support, installed HIS HD 4670 and rebooted into Win7-64 and new video found immediately. Installed latest AMD/ATI Catalyst drivers and off to the races! Power supply integration issues are real with any motherboard, so know your stuff before you by components to integrate. This has always been and will always be an important consideration when building a system. People who complain about compoents that don't work when integrating are not doing the correct amount of homework. I took my time hooking everything up and took care with wire management because I use wire ties for wire bundles while planning ahead for future components. Complaints about wire mgmt are jus

Cons: Route the wires the way you want and don't expect the Case manufacturers to do it for you. I was able to overclock CPU from 3.1 GHz to 3.7 GHz by simply bumping up the FSB multiplier from 15.5 to 18.5. Was able to keep vcore at stock. Core temps at 3.1 GHz 22C idle, 47C load. Core temps at 3.7 GHz 29C idle, 51C load. Prime95 tests ran > 12 hours. These temps are possible due to the great High Air Flow case, Cooler Master HAF-922 MidTower with the two optional fans installed. System still very quiet for a server, though not as quiet as my totally silent Dell Inspiron. Temps also are attained using the stock AM3 CPU cooler. The Corsair CWCH50 closed loop water based cooler dropped temps to 21C Idle and 37C load @ 3.7 GHz. I was able to set the SDRAM to 1600mhz by simply setting the following 9-9-9-24-30 at 1.6V and bumping the frequency in BIOS. Total time in BIOS to overclock CPU and attain 1600MHz RAM: < 5 min.

Best case I've seen in 10 years!

Cooler Master HAF 922 - High Air Flow Mid Tower Computer Case with USB 3.0 and All-Black Interior
Cooler Master HAF 922 - High Air Flow Mid Tower Computer Case with USB 3.0 and All-Black Interior

Pros: Solid, high quality, beautifully designed case. Been building computer systems for 25 years and after using 100s of cases, it's nice to finally find one that the design and production team can be completely proud of. Cable mgmt criticisms are totally irrelevant. Case cable mgmt is a personal endeavor and a skill along with required patience. Case OEMs should not be required to 'hand hold' computer builders to do the cable mgmt. It's not that hard to lay out the cables as one sees fit and use wireties or any other cable restraint to bundle and keep cables where you want them. This case gives the builder every option and plenty of space to lay the system any way one wishes. Future expansions for almost any conceivable configuration is possible and expandable. You get what you pay for and in this case, you get way MORE than you pay for.

Cons: Minor: Wire ties included are very small and black. Would be nice to have more with varying lengths and colors since this case is larger than the average MidTower. Enhancement Request (NOT A CON): ESATA on the top would be nice.
