Good HTPC Fan

Pros: Replaced a Cooler Master 'quiet' fan -- not sure of exact model -- purchased in retail store with limited selection. With the Enermax installed the difference is noticeable. I used to be able to hear the HTPC walking into the room. The first few days after installation I had to look at the power light to make sure it was still running. Came with everything needed to install - 4 screws and dual power connection options (3- and 4-pin) for flexibility. Removable blades will be great once dust has accumulated. Good design. Bulk discount -- bought 3 and plan to replace other noisy fans elsewhere. Good tip to keep it away from HDDs. Thanks for that post. Not a problem since it's in the back of the case, but definitely something to be aware of before purchasing.
Cons: The power wire was barely long enough to reach from the back of the case to the motherboard 3-pin power. The molex connector would work, so this is not worth cracking an egg. Not a Con with this fan, but a side effect of installing it. Now I notice the CPU fan revving up when the computer is heavily loaded commercial flagging or transcoding recorded shows. This usually occurs after I'm done watching stuff and am out of the room, so a minor issue but mildly amusing.
Bad Capacitors at 6 Years

Pros: Ran smoothly as HTPC for six years.
Cons: It was a solid board and provided 6 years of good service before it went bad. A short time ago it started shutting down after booting and running for a short time -- usually less than 10 minutes. After troubleshooting by removing/swapping all components (RAM, CPU, PSU, all cards) it came down to the motherboard. Several of the capacitors have rounded tops, so I concluded that was the problem. Found a used socket 939 motherboard and everything has been running fine with all the other original components, confirming mboard as the problem.
Overall Review: While six years is a good run, it's still a hassle to have to spend time and money troubleshooting this issue.
