Pros: My NAS drive ran fine for 4 years.

Cons: Hi, I had a Buffalo drive for years and its motherboard died so that its network no longer worked. You would think "no problem" just call buffalo and they will sell you a replacement part, or that you could buy a new device and then put in your disks to recover your data. After all, you bought a RAID array to protect your data. NOT THE CASE! When a system gets "out of warranty" Buffalo no longer maintains ANY procedures for getting data off of your drives. They did not engineer my system so that there is any method of data recovery through the USB ports, and your RAID drives are not guaranteed to work in newer systems. Even maintaining regular backups there is still usually data on these drives that you will want when you have a system failure (and you will). Don't buy a Buffalo system with the false security that they will support your product long term. Don't buy a Buffalo system thinking you don't have to do regular (daily) backups. I recommend not buying a Buffalo system at all after my experience. Being repeatedly told that this was my fault for not doing more regular backups by the support lead, when in fact, they abandoned support for my system got really old. I hope this saves some of you future pain.
