Good drive for the money
Pros: I have had zero problems with this drive. Notably I have only used it for reads, no writes yet, but it has had no problem with any disc I've put in. Blue Ray works fine. Installs, games, rips of cd's and dvd's -- no problem. Same for discs' I wrote with old burners from years back.
Cons: I haven't had it that long (so I didn't feel right giving five eggs). It's not the quietest drive I've ever had but it's no louder than other drive either. Plus I don't run mine constantly.
Product is fine; Customer Service is questionable
Pros: Case is solid and well put together. Stock i5 and an r9 270 stay nice and cool without any additional fans. Hard drive cages remove easily to allow for long cards.
Cons: My issue is not with the product but rather with their customer service and their rebate policy. I purchased this as part of a christmas gift and it seems that the very short rebate submission time expired before the gift was given. I am extremely disappointed in that. I tried contacting customer service but it seems they were all on extended vacation for the end of year holidays. It's now been a good two weeks past that time and I still haven't heard anything from them. I find it difficult to recommend a company, even with a good product, if they can't take the time to answer their email.
Different experience
Pros: My experience with this board differs from other reviewers, but probably because my usage differs. I am not overclocking. I am not adding tons of peripherals. I set out to build a very simple, budget gaming box. This board fits that bill very well for the price. I've added memory, a cpu, and a video card and it works just fine. I may add sound down the line, but right now it's better than what I had before. I find the performance of my box very snappy.
Cons: Total of three issues encountered. First is a minor installation note. Take your time matching the case plugs to the motherboard. The labeling from different companies is often just as different as it can be. Probably can't be helped, but a little more documentation would have been nice. Second, unclear at this time, but I sometimes get a pc that won't boot because of the video card. Reseating the card clears the issue. I have not yet determined if the cause is the card or the mobo. Jury is still out for now. Does not happen often. Third, also a minor issue. The board is shipped with an "ez charger" app which is supposed to power usb ports during all the PC S* states with a high current flow for quick charging. I have not yet been able to get this to work.
Overall Review: If I ever resolve the graphics or mobo issue above, I'll update the review. To be fair though, unless it starts happening more often I'm not likely to spend time on it. ez charge is not a deal breaker, but it would be nice if it worked "out of the box" and didn't need any fooling about.
Very good drive
Pros: Seagate has always done well by me. This drive seems to be another in that line. Price was great (often on sale for ~$50) for a 1TB drive. I find the drive is quiet, quick, and does not generate heat.
Cons: None at this time.
Overall Review: Just a cautionary note. No matter who makes the drive, it WILL fail. Keep a copy of your important data someplace (or multiple someplaces) else too. Recovery off any failed drive is a pain in the you-know-what-but-newegg-filters-wont-let-me-say.
Does the job admirably
Pros: How much can you really say about memory? No problems with these. Price was great. Performance was exactly where they said it would be. Does exactly what it is supposed to and at exactly the performance advertised.
Cons: No issues.
works great for me
Pros: Card posts some great specs for the money (watch for sales/rebates on this one). Bought for a gaming pc, and it has definitely elevated my playing field. Picture is sharp and clear. Very good frame rate even with high resolution and a lot of features enabled. Card runs quiet and cool. I've seen comments in the reviews about "coil whine" and noisy fans, but I have not had any of that.
Cons: I'm still in the burn in period, so bad things could still happen. The card is long, so be sure you have tail end clearance in your box -- I had to remove an hd cage to fit in mine. I have seen where the card stopped my PC from booting, but reseating the card cleared the issue. I am not willing to blame the board yet, I need to verify it's not a psu or mobo issue.
Overall Review: I've seen some other comments regarding asus customer service. I called on my card (above boot blocker issue) and had a very positive experience. The rep was notably tired, but they were still friendly, polite, and helpful.
