Lovin' it!

HP ENVY 17 17.3" Intel Core i7-3610QM 8GB Memory DDR3 1600 Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit 17-3270NR
HP ENVY 17 17.3" Intel Core i7-3610QM 8GB Memory DDR3 1600 Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit 17-3270NR

Pros: Quality construction, great screen, low level of bloatware and very zippy. SSD and memory upgrades makes it even faster. So far so good.

Cons: The graphics card is holding me down on the overall score on the Windows Experience Index to a 6.8 but I do not really expect that to cause too much of an issue for me. Gonna dock it a point for that though.

Overall Review: Added a 256GB Crucial SSD and 16GB Patriot memory. Took the 750GB 7200rpm drive that it came with and made it into file storage. Made a recover flash drive using the HP Recovery Media creation tool so that I could use the SSD as my system drive and it worked without issue.

On to something but there yet.

Handheld Wireless 2.4G USB Optical Trackball Mouse
Handheld Wireless 2.4G USB Optical Trackball Mouse

Pros: 1. 3-n-1 Trackball / Mouse / Handheld, very nice. I cannot say how many times I have had someone sit at my workstation to "drive" and been flummoxed by my Logitech M570 trackball, pushing it around my desk and wondering why the pointer will not move. The mouse functionality on this one means that I can use my favored thumb-trackball functionality and someone else can use the mouse without missing a beat. 2. Rechargeable battery with USB cable for charging only. Charge your battery and still be able to use the trackball. 3. The handheld trackball functionality is novel though I haven't really found anything I use my laptop for where this would be the preferred method.

Cons: 1. Trackball functionality and mouse functionality war with each other when resting on a flat surface, with definite preference given to the mouse functionality. This makes it very difficult for me to use since the trackball is my preference. The trackball functionality works much better in handheld operation. I really wish they would have a switch to turn off mouse functionality. 2. The scroll wheel location is only useful when you are using the device in your hand. when it is on the table top it is neigh unreachable. They should have kept it between the buttons. 3. Recharge plugin location makes the device difficult to use while recharging, not that this has been an issue since the battery is holding a charge well.

Overall Review: Overall, i really like the concept but am disappointed with the execution. I suspect that the market for this peripheral is limited so I do not expect they will be updating the device to make it better.

Excellent for LOTRO

XFX Radeon HD 5870 (Cypress XT) 1GB DDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 CrossFireX Support Graphics Card HD-587X-ZNFV
XFX Radeon HD 5870 (Cypress XT) 1GB DDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 CrossFireX Support Graphics Card HD-587X-ZNFV

Pros: for whatever reason my 4750 with 512MB of RAM kept on lagging when I played LOTRO. i noticed that the lag happened at the same time the hard drive was spinning up so i determined i was access the disk too often for my needs and upgraded to SSD and the 5870 with the 1GB of memory. That did the trick, no more lag and I have the graphics maxed. I couldn't be happier.

Cons: None for me.

Overall Review: None.

Solid Performer

ZyXEL X550N Wireless Router IEEE 802.3/3u/3ab, IEEE 802.11b/g, IEEE802.11n 2
ZyXEL X550N Wireless Router IEEE 802.3/3u/3ab, IEEE 802.11b/g, IEEE802.11n 2

Pros: It works great. Has a nice strong signal and a good amount of options.

Cons: -As with the last ZyXEL i owned, the WebGUI can be cumbersome -There is an issue printing to my wife's shared printer. Instead of figuring it out I just plugged the printer into my NAS.

Overall Review: Good price, plenty of control, a solid router.

So far so good

Galaxy 3500MGB-RAID Pro Network Storage
Galaxy 3500MGB-RAID Pro Network Storage

Pros: So far I have used this only on a 100Mb network and transferring 300GB+ of music was painfully slow but that is to be expected. Video playback has been good and so has music playback, I did notice some studdering on the music playback when uploading at the same time but I am hoping that a new 1Gb router will fix that. Unbeatable for the price, as far as I'm concerned.

Cons: The Bittorrent functionality isn't very functional for me. It didn't work out of the box and I haven't looked any deeper to see if any configuration tweaks are needed on my firewall. It isn't the reason I bought it so I am not too torn up about it.

Overall Review: put 2 SAMSUNG Spinpoint 750GB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drives in here and set them up in RAID 1 with no complaints. RAID 1 setup is easy for anyone who has used a RAID Web or BIOS Interface previously.
