does Hitachi support it?

Hitachi GST H3IK40003254SW (0S03364) 4TB 5400 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive
Hitachi GST H3IK40003254SW (0S03364) 4TB 5400 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: Large and quiet.

Cons: I cannot find information or support about this drive on Hitachi's website.

Overall Review: The part number on the protective bag says "0S03364", but I cannot find that part number in Hitachi's website and does not match any number on the drive label. The serial number on the bag matches the one on the drive. The description on the bag says "Hitachi 3.5 4TB Coolspin IDK bulk pack - ww". One of the part numbers on the drive is 0F14696 and the other part number is H3D40003254SE and a similar looking model number is HDS5C4040ALE630. None of these show up on the Hitachi website. Also the Hitachi support tools do not work on drives over 2TB. This drive was made in November 2011 and has the coolspin logo on the label. It works as advertised but the lack of documentation and support tools make me reluctant to buy another one. Get with it Hitachi!

Targus ACP60US ExpressCard Notebook Docking Station with Digital Video and Audio
Targus ACP60US ExpressCard Notebook Docking Station with Digital Video and Audio

Pros: It works most of the time. Using it with Vista Business and a Dell Vostro 1710 which has no native docking support. Using the video in external only mode, not clone and not extended desktop.

Cons: It hangs about once a day and requires a forced reboot. I had to call Targus support to get installation help as my own attempts left me with no audio. They were in fact helpful. Although it claims to support wide screen 1680x1050 resolution, I cannot make it work. Running at 1600x1200 on my 27" dell 2708wfp widescreen lcd.

Overall Review: Video seems to be the big problem. If you don't need the video, I would guess it would be OK. If you turn off all the gui accelerations (not just the vista theme) it becomes more stable. The end user has decided to keep it and put up with the problems, so I have to give it more than one egg.

love it

Seagate BarraCuda 7200.11 ST31500341AS 1.5TB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive
Seagate BarraCuda 7200.11 ST31500341AS 1.5TB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: Using two of these in a Mac Pro 1,1 running Leopard Client. They are quiet and fast. They run cooler than the factory stock 500GB barracuda 7200.10 which they replaced.

Cons: none

Overall Review: product of Thailand. firmware cc1h

its OK

Western Digital WD Green WD15EADS 1.5TB 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive
Western Digital WD Green WD15EADS 1.5TB 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: I have two of these in a Mac Pro 1,1. Neither is running the OS, one is for TimeMachine. They're OK and they do run cooler than the 1.5TB Seagate barracuda 7200.11

Cons: One suffered trouble after one week of light use. It became extremely slow and SMART reported that it was "unverified". Data was NOT lost, however it two 8 days to do a two pass erase. Newegg exchanged it no problem.

Overall Review: Product of Thailand. It does it's job as a backup drive. I cannot tell you if it is OK running the OS. Since these two run cooler, and the Mac Pro has two bays that run hotter, I've installed them in the hot bays 1 and 4. This way they stay about the same temperature as the hotter seagate barracuda 7200.11 1.5TB in bays 2 and 3.
