dissapointed and had to RMA

AMD FirePro V7900 100-505861 2GB GDDR5 Quad DP PCI-Express Workstation Video Card
AMD FirePro V7900 100-505861 2GB GDDR5 Quad DP PCI-Express Workstation Video Card

Pros: Maya 2012's viewport 2.0 gets fast navigation (2 mil poly object tested) with the exception of visual artifacts with wireframes and component selection. Mudbox performance(6mil poly sculpt) is slightly faster most of the time but see cons.

Cons: Regular viewport on Maya 2012 and some earlier versions are slower than my GTX 470 card. I get around 7-10 fps with V7900 on maya viewport with models around 200k triangles. With GTX 470 I get around 35-50fps. Selecting/deselecting objects is laggy. Wireframe on shaded mode is super slow. These issues makes the V7900 card USELESS for 90% of my work. Viewport2.0 is only good for showcasing and not for regular 3d modeling. My GTX 470 out performs this card on regular viewport. Mudbox performance slows down drastically often. Brush strokes are sometimes laggy. Max performance is slower than with GTX card. DO NOT BUY this card if you are a 3d modeler and use the softwares I listed below. Get a high end gaming card instead. Bad packaging, no detailed booklet or specifications. I know this is a "pro" card but I am a game developer and games dont play well as expected. L4d2, Crysis, Portal2, MW3 etc runs slow and some of them even froze up windows and I had to hard reboot.

Overall Review: I sent this back for RMA with a re-stocking fee of ~$100. I bought this thinking it would be a boost to my 3d workstation which currently has a Geforce GTX 470. May be I will get a newer GTX card later since these gaming cards seem to out perform these so called "professional workstation" cards in 90% of the cases. Softwares I use are: Maya2012, Max2012, Mudbox2012 and PhotoshopCS5 System Spec: i7 3770k 16gb ram windows7 64bit SSD boot

affordable option but did not boot.

NEMIX RAM 64GB (4X16GB) DDR4 3200MHZ PC4-25600 2Rx8 1.2V 288-PIN ECC Unbuffered UDIMM KIT

Pros: one of few DDR4-3200 ECC UDIMM ram available out there. unfortunately did not boot on my Gigabyte Aorus Master TRX40 1.1

Cons: did not boot on my Gigabyte Aorus Master TRX40 1.1

Overall Review: motherboard had red light for dram meaning ram did not boot. tried may times and PC just wont turn on or show bios with this ram. ended up getting CORSAIR - VENGEANCE LPX CMK32GX4M2E3200C16 instead.

Comments: i am a graphics designer and i upgraded to this processor to get a better rendering speed. not only the rendering was remarkably faster but i also got a awsome fps boost in games. i got the Kingston HyperX series ECC DDR400 512 rams for this processor and the Asus SK8V mobo. I recommend this processor to anyone who is thinking of buying a Athlon 64 FX-51 and same a bundle of money and get same speed
