Works fine for me
Pros: Faster than Roku 1 Better remote, works via RF or bluetooth, doesn't need to "see" main unit Hidden from sight
Cons: Needs full time external power or unit fully re-boots every time it starts up. USB power from back of TV can supply power, but the power there shuts when the TV shuts, thus full ROKU reboot. I ran a cord from a full time power outlet and now problem is solved. This is something to be aware of. Apparently some TVs have enough power from the HDMI alone to power the stick independently and I have no idea how that power setup affects the reboot situation
Overall Review: I am pleased with the purchase, it allows me to have the unit function as a Time Warner cable TV box without the $10 monthly box rental fee. I am used to the operation as I already had a ROKU XS.
Roku 3 DOES have ethernet
Pros: One previous reviewer said Roku 3 didn't have Ethernet connection. W R O N G , it does. BTAIM (be that as it may), I still think this Roku 2 XS is a much better deal
Cons: None, maybe no headphone jack on remote
Easy setup, unit was NEW!
Pros: EZ setup, EZ channel addition, very intuitive, 1080p beats wii
Cons: Pointer does not control interface, just for games
Overall Review: Just cut the Time Warner ripoff cable, streaming direct from PC and NOW with the Roku, I am very content. Kids did not stage insurrection, and yes I AM STILL alive with no cable. Unit was marked B stock, but still had shrink sticky wrap stuff on it. definitely brandy new
Works great for me!
Pros: Purchased for $199 - great deal!. Receiver needed firmware update which went OK via ethernet. So far no issues. Setup menus not as intuitive as Yamaha RXV373 (purchased earlier but overheated and began acting buggy-unit returned)and sound is on par, maybe a bit inferior to my ears but sound stage effects not as processed sounding as Yamaha's(totally subjective of course). On the other hand, more inputs, network capability, separate zone 2 output, good tech support (3 calls answered wihin 30 seconds by technically astute Onkyo staff) made this a winner for me. It appears the older reviews regarding inferior firmware are not relavent as this unit is AOK with most up to date firmware. Time will tell if I get 10 years out of this unit as I usually do before they become obsolete or dead. No regrets, good recovery Onkyo.
Cons: Needed firmware update out of box, but that went well seamlessly
Overall Review: Dollar for dollar and feature for feature, value is unbeatable and believe me, I CHECKED. No regrets, glad I pulled the trigger. BTW, NewEgg is 100% behind their products, no problems whatsoever re: returning buggy Yamaha receiver.
Nice card
Pros: CHEAP! BIG!
Cons: None
Overall Review: Works great in my sd-900. Fast write speed and no glitches so far. For $xx after rebate, how can you complain. I might just get another for the helluvit!
