FORCE 3 BOGUS

Corsair Force Series 3 2.5" 120GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) CSSD-F120GB3-BK
Corsair Force Series 3 2.5" 120GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) CSSD-F120GB3-BK

Pros: Boots up in AHCI mode coupled with an ASUS P8P67 Deluxe Rev. 3.0 mobo and Win7 Pro. Boot time 14 seconds. Sata 3 (6.0 gb's) in Crystal and Intel.

Cons: Drive was poorly packaged by Newegg shipping. It has been relabled with a serial number of 1124xxx, however the actual serial number reported by Crystal and Intel is the fault ridden 1122xxx, and the firmware is 1.2 not the current 2.0. I reported this to their support team (couple of prompts and twelve minutes hold time to converse with an agent); retaining a case number the technician passed me off to customer service where the call immediately went to voice mail. Hmm, what a Equine manure of a deal. The drive sustains speeds of around 140Mb's not anywhere near the rated speed. Actually slower than my previous RAID0+1 setup with 4 mechanical Sata 2 drives.

Overall Review: Over the past fourteen years, I have always had a very satisfying experience with Corsair and their products. I cannot believe they placed a new label on this drive and "FORCEd" it out the door to the consumer. One caveat of this reality is that it is going to cost more time and money for everyone to rectify.

Cons: Zippo.

Bonafide Video Card

Galaxy 68NQH6DN6DXZ GeForce GTX 680 GC 4GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card
Galaxy 68NQH6DN6DXZ GeForce GTX 680 GC 4GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card

Pros: Super quiet. Runs fairly average temps in SLI. Top card never rises above 79*C and the bottom 73*C running COD B OPS II in 3D 120+ FPS hours on end with NVIDIA automatic fan settings. Runs at 1201 MHz boost on the core clock with standard settings. Doesn't miss a beat, and zero issues. Fits well in my P8Z77-V Premium board with GSKILL fan cooler on RAM. A unit with a Backplate would push up against the memory bracket and probably not fit in the PCIE slot without breaking the motherboard. Like the fact that they are only 10" long with a custom PCB. I'm using a 850 watt power supply which has two 8 pin and 2 6 pin power adapters built in. The extra power is the reason for the higher than rated boost clock rates that I'm seeing with these components.

Cons: Doesn't come with an SLI bridge... Their tech support needs help. Seeing how I have never owned a Galaxy / KFA2 product before, I decided to test their support talent with basic questions. They answer the phone straight away, but they have a very nonchalant attitude. Didn't need them for anything, just checking their grade so to speak with generic questions. Their quality of support is a concern.

Overall Review: Grab two of these units, SLI them, and start 3D'ing away. These graphic cards are really superior performing units in their own right without manually overclocking them higher. Newegg didn't have them in inventory so I had to go to the rain forest to retrieve them. Pleased with my purchase of two Galaxy 680 GC 4GB for SLI 3D 120 Hz FPS.

Mushkin Enhanced Chronos Deluxe 2.5" 120GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) MKNSSDCR120GB-DX

Pros: Upon further review and more than a month of use, these units are solid. On the 18th of August I upgraded to the new firmware from 3.19 to 3.20 and viola they improved in performance. Mushkin rally has hit a home run with these 120 Gb Chronos DELUXE SSD's.
