What a little beast!
Pros: -An incredible value for the money. -It's small and easy to fit in ANY case. -Handles every game I've thrown at it like it was nothing. -Low power requirements -Good cooling once paired with the EVGA Precision X fan control software (See other thoughts)
Cons: -At the time of writing this the Nvidia driver still seem young. -I don't like having extra software running in the background but the EVGA fan software seems a necessary evil at this point. -Nowhere near as future proof as its big brothers but that is to be expected -Cannot run this little guy in SLI. Thought it might be fun to get it a brother Ha!
Overall Review: -Anyone in need of a quick replacement/upgrade I strongly recommend this card. -As I mentioned, you're going to want to download the fan control software called Precision X from EVGA. Without it the temps started creeping up around 70c+ before the fan really started kicking in. With PX you can set your own fan curve to keep temps downs before they get high. Also, I've found that, if possible, turning on v-sync in games seems to keep temps down a tad. After creating a fan curve, Fallout 4, modded to kingdom come on ultra and its getting 55-60 FPS at 56c - 63c.
Bad card or bad drivers?
Pros: Well built, solid card. The fans seem very sturdy unlike some other cards I've owned made of cheap plastic; and they do a great job keeping the card cool even under a full load. When the card is functioning as expected (see cons) it runs great, getting excellent fps on everything I've thrown at it. I finally got to see Crysis on High/Very High settings, even if it was only for a few moments.
Cons: No matter what game I'm playing the driver fails and usually takes the game out with it. Vista (x64) reports the driver failed and has recovered; yet once I start up another game the same thing happens, even games not as GPU intensive like World of Warcraft are unplayable as the screen blacks out every few seconds each time the driver fails then “recovers”. I've read several different forums and it seems this is a common issue but no one can definitively say that it’s a defective card or shoddy drivers from nvidia. The consensus seems to be its drivers.
Overall Review: I've done a clean driver (197.45 at the moment) install and monitored the GPU temps and everything seems fine leading me to the (perhaps ignorant) conclusion that the issue is with the drivers. Also I should note that it has no problem at all with IE8, Firefox, and apps such as Photoshop and FLStudio. Movies also play fine without a problem.
Best mousepad/desk mat I've ever owned
Pros: -Immediately I can tell this thing is built to last. FINALLY someone is making actual durable gaming gear! -My water bottle had a little perspiration and it beaded up rather than soak in. Cordura for the win! -The edges are stitched very well and doesn't have a bump at the edge due to the thickness of the pad. -It feels heavy, like it was made well. Plus the bottom rubber really grabs my desk surface. It's not going anywhere. -It laid flat almost instantly unlike others I've owned that require time to flatten. -No foul stench. I think just about everyone by now has purchased a new mousepad that simply reeks when you open up the packaging.
Cons: -A very very mild con (for me). I was expecting just a plain black surface. Instead there is a very subtle "Wicked Bunny" text and an offset grid. This isn't a deal breaker for me but I'd like people to be aware before they buy. It's VERY subtle.
Overall Review: Hands down the best mouse pad/desk mat I've ever owned. The photo I attached of the logo on the pad has been edited in a way to exaggerate the logo so people can see what it is. I can't repeat this enough, It's very very subtle and I think it's very tastefully done. Some other reviews have pointed out that there is a bit of a texture to the Cordura. It's true but it's not bad at all. I have a Razer optical mouse (Deathadder) and I don't have any issue at all. Also it's not really rough. I feel like it's more like a bunch of extremely little beads under my fingers. On another note, my wife and I have pet bunnies so this just perfect. I can't wait to try other products from this company!
Pros: -Works exactly as intended. -Easy installation -The wife, when she gets home, no longer needs to turn on her computer and occupy herself for awhile while it boots up.
Cons: -Nothing comes to mind.
Overall Review: As stated above this was for my wife's computer to move her boot drive to the speed of a SSD. You see, she got spoiled by her laptop, not that I can blame her.
Not bad, but I expected more.
Pros: - Easy to clean - Solid design and construction. Feels well made and sturdy
Cons: - I expected better cooling. The highest I saw it get to was 76c which feels really hot to me. - Under load the fan seems pretty loud. - Fairly tall (be sure to check the dimensions)
Overall Review: All in all not a bad cooler for the price. I've been a long time Cooler Master fan (get it?) but this one didn't really do the job I was expecting. Now there could be some outside factors such as how the thermal paste was applied. I did a pretty sloppy job it turns out. I have a Corsair Air 540 which has TONS of airflow so it wasn't that.
