Sony Optiarc 20X DVD±R Burner 20X DVD+R 8X DVD+RW 8X DVD+R DL 20X DVD-R 6X DVD-RW 16X DVD-ROM 48X CD-R 32X CD-RW 48X CD-ROM Black IDE Model AD-7200A-0B

Pros: VERY quiet drive! I've previously gone through several Lite-ON drives who were noisy and took 15-20 mins to burn a disk (also burned lots of coasters!). Nice deep dark burn on the discs no matter what media I use.

Cons: Doesn't say Sony on it? No, really there aren't any Cons I can find..

Overall Review: quiet, quick (about 9 mins for a dvd video), deep, dark burn.. what more could you ask for? A 20x Sony drive for $20? Sweeeet...

Most Critical Review

DOA - black ink!

Brother MFC-5490CN Up to 35 ppm 6000 x 1200 dpi Color Inkjet All-in-One Printer with Networking
Brother MFC-5490CN Up to 35 ppm 6000 x 1200 dpi Color Inkjet All-in-One Printer with Networking

Pros: Great price for a feature packed networked printer. The color printing is excellent quality!

Cons: The black cartridge that came with it was intermittent printing at best, went to local officemax to buy replacement (figuring cartridge was bad after 7 cleanings & half cartridge worth of ink later). Installed new ink cartridge, now no black printing at all! Replaced new with old half-full cartridge, same issue! Here's hoping NewEgg will replace it for me (crossing fingers).

Overall Review: A friend of mine has had this same printer for over a year and like me prints in spurts (100 pages one month, none for the next 3 months). He has never once had an issue, prints great just like the day he bought it. It was his feedback and experience that led me to get one myself. Hopefully after the replacement all will be well.

3/4 mem sticks failed!

Mushkin Enhanced Essentials 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model 996586
Mushkin Enhanced Essentials 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model 996586

Pros: Decent price

Cons: Frozen computer BSOD (blue screen of death) on a Win 7 64-bit machine no less! Memory test boot disks indicated 3 out of 4 chips were bad!

Overall Review: System chips are in: Quad Core Intel i7 Intel board Cooler Master power supply 1TB Western Digital Black 7200rpm HDD Samsung 16x DVD burner 3 - 120mm Arctic Cooling fans (back, left side, top) No other peripherals First noticed this issue because my computer would freeze up when watching videos, or when in the middle of a college project, after which BSOD's starting happening. I pulled all chips then relaced chips one by one to test each chip to find out which were good, which were bad. MAKE SURE YOU TEST YOUR MEMORY! I used MemTest boot disk. Oh and for those of you who may think that I overclocked the memory which caused a fault, I didn't. Those who may think I'm just a tech hobbyist, I have a technical degree in Computer Systems, an associates in Systems Analysis, and a bachelors in Computer Forensics w/ a minor in InfoSec. Plus I have over 13 years professional / personal experience.

Another one bites the dust, take two

Patriot Xporter XT Boost 8GB Flash Drive (USB 2.0 Portable) PEF8GUSB
Patriot Xporter XT Boost 8GB Flash Drive (USB 2.0 Portable) PEF8GUSB

Pros: The drive was very affordable, fast and physically rough & tough.

Cons: BUYER BEWARE!!! BACK-UP YOUR DATA CONSTANTLY!!!!!!!!!! Today I find out that skywave who wrote a review on 3/4/10 is unfortunately correct. I purchased mine on 1/9/10 and today went to use it and it's a dead stick (no lights, no computer recognizes it, nothing). It worked flawlessly just last night at 10pm. I always safely remove it every single time I disconnect the drive. It never leaves my jacket pocket. I've even gone as far as getting a 6" USB extension cable so the drive isn't shoved up against other drives. I had a Corsair Voyager 8GB (Item#: N82E16820233037) drive previously that over the course of a year the usb connector was bent precariously at a 18* angle because of a tight fit and large physical footprint. I can only hope that I have better luck with Patriot than skywave. In the meantime I'm out of portable storage that I need so desperately (I work out of 4 geographically different locations and need the info with me).

Overall Review: I wonder if USB is nearing the end of an era? If only Ajay Bhatt had done a better job inventing the tech. I will be forced to look into alternate methods of portable data storage.

great product, good value!

Nippon Labs 2.5" SATA to USB 2.0 External Enclosure for SATA I and SATA II Hard Drive Model EN-25SATA
Nippon Labs 2.5" SATA to USB 2.0 External Enclosure for SATA I and SATA II Hard Drive Model EN-25SATA

Pros: Low cost, rugged feel of enclosure itself, ease of assembly.

Cons: one of the plastic tabs that "lock-it" in place prior to screwing together broke off when trying delicately to insert it into the eyehole. Not a problem though as screws were also included to hold enclosure together.
