Pros: Great CPU, does everything it's advertised to do. Bigger the load, better the performance.
Cons: -Stock fan is noisy. Works, keeps everything well cooled (unless you're pushing the CPU's limits for one reason or another), but occasionally sounds like a jet engine. -AMD voids your 3-year warranty if you use aftermarket cooling.
The Dangers of Refurb
Pros: -Great card, even for the money *now* -Still relevant to gaming after a few years of tech progress -Usually very stable
Cons: -"Refurbished" doesn't always mean the seller caught every problem with the card or tested it rigorously. -Sometimes has a bit of trouble working with Windows 8.1 -No 'refund' option on this sale--once you buy this card, all a return will do for you is get you a new model of the same card and leave you $13 bucks lighter for the postage.
Overall Review: -I recommend buying this card for the home builder who has a backup GPU, and time to wait for the long process of RMA'ing in case it goes out. The HD6870 is still a decent enough GPU that if somebody sent it back, something was wrong with it.
Defective, RMA failure
Pros: Looks like a good deal, the A10 series makes great processors from what I can see, and at middle-low range this rig can play mostly anything. Great price too.
Cons: Refurbished product, arrived with a defective keyboard. RMA'd. That was over two months ago. After contacting the folks in customer support quite a few times Newegg still hasn't managed to get back to me. Minus four stars, two per month.
Overall Review: Runs Windows 8 'stock.' Be ready.
Thermal Paste
Pros: Used on latest build between a coolermaster hyper212 evo and a bulldozer cpu. No problems, survived stress test really very well, still going today almost a year later. Props, Arctic Silver.
Cons: None.
Overall Review: Is just a little sticky when swapping heatsinks, I left my computer running for a few minutes and the heat generated by my cpu loosened it right up.
Didn't Know Newegg Sold This Model
Pros: For when I bought it: -fast, early quad-core, cpu -1.5 GB memory on the card, high-mid range speed -integrated graphics for backup -full TB HDD space -HD Blueray ready For now: -Built with a very sturdy motherboard -embedded wifi -can still play most games, if on lowish settings
Cons: -slow. This PC's been around for a long while, it's been surpassed by everything just above mid-range. It STILL fits into mid-range computing, but if you're getting a new computer... it's slow. -Pegatron-made. Ever try finding replacement parts from Pegatron? I have. It's impossible. This is the company that made the motherboard and GPU for the Pavilion E9160f. While the parts they made are high-quality and very sturdy, *if* one of them breaks down you cannot get a replacement from Pegatron or one of their subsidiary companies. -Outdated graphics. If you're going to use this computer to putter around on the internet and maybe play a game every once in a while; maybe watch a Blueray or two, then yeah, it's the computer for you. If you want beyond-the-call-of-duty performance on newer games? Nope. -Integrated wifi. It's weird, but the NIC on this model of computer is actually wired into the PSU. Can't move it to a new build unless you want the hassle of wiring.
Overall Review: Only has a 350-watt PSU, so no real headroom to speak of for building; but even so it works with some of the later low-impact graphics cards. Installed an HD 6450 a while back, runs just fine.
Was Worried, No Longer Am
Pros: -Stable -Search Bar of Ultimate Awesomeness -Does what it's advertised to do
Cons: -Costs tonnes of money, and I hear Microsoft's said it's ok to use the upgrade version for a full install now.
Overall Review: I was concerned that I would have to jump through hoops using system-builder software, I didn't. Just popped in the 7 Install Disk and everything went well. System build (not that it's pertinent or anything): -8 GB GSkill 1600 -gtx 990 ud3 motherboard from Gigabyte -AMD Dozer, 8120 -Air cooling (hyper 212 evo) -Crossfire Radeon HD 6870's -Challenger case from Rosewell
