Elegant Keyboard
Pros: It’s hard to find a good keyboard that is comfortable, has great styling, and a good tactile feel all in one package. This keyboard certainly has it. The extra-large Delete key is a plus; no more fat-fingering the Insert key :) Works well and looks extremely professional in combination with a Microsoft Arc Touch Mouse. Backlighting is extremely helpful for late nights – at home or in the office.
Cons: Confirmed that SHIFT+W+SPACE doesn’t work. The general conjecture is that it is disabled intentionally to up-sell gaming keyboards. Sad, sad, sad. I buy gaming keyboards for extra keys and features, not to enable something that any $9 keyboard can already do. I believe some personnel change might be in order to correct that decision.
Whisper Quiet
Pros: With < 26db noise this cooler is extremely quiet. Excellent choice for engineering workstations using E5-16xx/26xx CPUs. It is rated for TDP up to 180W, so even an E5-1650v2 stays very cool (130W). Our new workstation is even more quiet than its predecessor!
Cons: Installation requires a bit more work. Had to remove power supply, cards, and memory to be able to tighten nuts. A small price to pay for a great cooler.
Great Small-footprint ESXXi
Pros: Excellent barebones system for an E3-12xx based ESXi server. Relatively quiet with sufficient cooling capacity for small businesses that have no server room – even with 2 3TB WD Reds. IPMI is a wonderful addition with this SuperMicro board.
Cons: Some cable rearrangement is required to fit two drives – nothing that a pair of clippers and extra zip-strips can’t take care of.
Works noisily,but well
Pros: Great fan for E5-16xx/26xx CPUs that is well-suite for 4U servers.
Cons: 38dB is a bit too noisy for high-end workstations. A better solution for that environment would be the Be Quiet CPU cooling link.
