AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ - Athlon 64 X2 Manchester Dual-Core 2.0 GHz Socket 939 Processor - ADA3800BVBOX

Pros: Runs all of my applications simultaneously. No need to close windows until shutting down.

Cons: None at all

Overall Review: I was most impressed when I finished playing a flawless session of HL2,logged out of steam only to find that my Antivirus had run a complete scan. I didnt even know it was running.

ASUS A8V-MX 939 VIA K8M800 Micro ATX AMD Motherboard
ASUS A8V-MX 939 VIA K8M800 Micro ATX AMD Motherboard

Pros: Its cheap, integrated video

Cons: SATA blows, fought with it for hours then ended up using IDE instead.

Overall Review: Put this with 3000+ Venice,512MB for my non-gaming mother. She loves it! There are better boards in this price range though.

Rosewill RCW-618 USB to IDE / SATA Adapter - Supports Windows 7
Rosewill RCW-618 USB to IDE / SATA Adapter - Supports Windows 7

Pros: Rubber enclosures fit nicely.

Cons: Drives only recognize about 25% of the time. Of that 25%, half the time it loses connection during file transfer. Flimsy SATA Power connection broke right away, exposing the connectors and requiring electrical tape to cover. RMA'd the first one through newegg for the same problem.

Overall Review: I debated writing this review, or contacting Rosewill directly to ask for a 2nd replacement to be sent at their expense. It is just not worth the headache. I use Rosewill for other things & have been happy.

Disappointed

ICY DOCK MB663UR-1S Aluminum body w/ partial plastic 2.5" Silver SATA USB 2.0 External Enclosure
ICY DOCK MB663UR-1S Aluminum body w/ partial plastic 2.5" Silver SATA USB 2.0 External Enclosure

Pros: Good concept. The cartridge works great when plugged directly into an external USB slot.

Cons: The 'Dock' causes BSOD (system crash) every time you try to access the inserted disk/cartridge from within windows. Dock is very poorly designed and flimsy. The pin inserts on the flip up dust cover are too short, so the cover falls out its slot and get stuck inside. The eject button feels as if it will fall out soon. The pressure required to insert the cartridge into the dock will likely break the front plastic cover of the cartridge in a short amount of time.

Overall Review: I knew I was taking a chance with this product. I dont usually buy if there are no reviews, but there are not many products like this. I purchased 2 of these 'docks' along with 4 additional cartridges, to replace a tape backup system on a server. The second dock was only purchased as a backup to the 1st because I had a feeling they might have a short lifetime. For the price I kind of expected the unit to be a little flimsy, but the BSOD makes the dock completely useless. I dont know if it is worth doing an RMA on these, because 2/2 DOA leaves me with little confidence in getting a working unit. I will likely just use the standalone cartridges on external USB ports. If your looking at this, save yourself 20 bucks, forget the dock and go with the MB663UB-1S. Also take care to not the difference between MB663UB-1S = SATA , and MB663UB-1A = ATA.

Pros: Its cheap

Cons: Its cheap.DOA

Overall Review: Follow up to my review below. I decided to RMA a 3rd time throught the manufacturer. The replacement stick was also DOA. Tried in multiple machines. Since manufacturer will pay for shipping, I will just keep RMAing through them until I get a good stick.

CORSAIR ValueSelect 512MB DDR2 533 (PC2 4200) Desktop Memory Model VS512MB533D2

Pros: It is cheap

Cons: It is cheap. Semi-DOA

Overall Review: I purchased a stick for a customer & installed it. It worked fine at the time of install. Shortly after leaving the customer calls to report strange colors and beeps. Memory fails torture test within 5-min. RMA'd it and received the new one today. This one is DOA. So the $12 memory module + $12 shipping(2-way) would cost me at least another $7 shipping if I were to RMA it again.
