Pros: Works well normally handles traffic well normally

Cons: Has locked up 3 times over the past 5 months and has had to be power cycled. If this happens at least 2 more times im going to replace with an hp switch.

Pros: Board performs perfectly as intended, both sockets populated with amd opteron 2427s 6 core and all ram slots populated for maximum 32gb ram. 40+ hours burn in testing no crash at 60-90% processor utilization. 12 cores of 2.2ghz processing power and 32ghz of ddr2 667mhz ram. Its a monster.

Cons: If your utilizing the new istanbul series 6 core processors you will need to verify you have version 4 of the bios if not you will have to go through a 3rd party bios chip replacement site as i had to. System did not post until we ordered a v4 bios chip from biosman which immediately booted the system with 0 problems. Regardless of the cons and the notes i put in other thoughts the board works excellently. Boots quickly and has everything you could want for a general workhorse server.

Overall Review: First board i got had a truly ratty looking box and the serial/spdif ports were nearly torn off the board. Several pressure points were noted on the boards static bag via large indentations in the plastic over capacitors indicating it had been either stacked under large heavy boxes or the like. I took one egg off the rating for that sad quality control at the warehouse sending such a horrible looking box. I never installed that board requesting an immediatly replacement which newegg promptly sent. The board packaging on the second one was in excellent shape, no pressure points. I question how tyan packs their products as again in this board the serial port was slightly lifted off the board but was easily pushed back in place. The spdif port was lifted as well and the plastic housing was cracked and split, it was easy enough to push back down as well with no worries as i will not be utilizing these ports and the damage wasn't severe enough to even worry me, but i did take a second egg.

Pros: This particular raid controller card has plenty of ports

Cons: Lacks hardware raid, wasn't compatible with the S2915-E Tyan server board i had purchased, figured this out after slow responses from their support and after i rmaed the card for a second one,.

Overall Review: Thank newegg was able to honor the refund after the 30 days or i would have been stuck with a paper weight
