Nice MOBO - ? Support

EVGA 123-YW-E175-A1 LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 750i SLI FTW ATX Intel Motherboard
EVGA 123-YW-E175-A1 LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 750i SLI FTW ATX Intel Motherboard

Pros: Layout is very nice, installation was a snap. I'm using RAID1 on the MOBO, this has been a problem with other boards Ii own - not here though. Quad Core processor, 4 GB memory, 9600GT Vid card and all SATA devices make the system scream.

Cons: Tech support replies with canned answers that may not apply to your product. I cannot boot to a SATA DVD, hence could not install O/S. I had to plug in an IDE<yuck> DVD to install Windows. The SATA DVD works just fine, except it is not detected as a bootable device by the BIOS. Support directed me to turn off ESATA support - this MOBO has no such thing. Also directed me to download the latest BIOS - again NO SUCH THING. I e-mailed the Support Manager and got no reply. I'm stuck with ONE_TOO_MANY drives in my box and I'm not happy about it.

Overall Review: The vid card is EVGA too - pretty sweet. My son is the hardware guru and recommended this MOBO. I'm not usually impressed by anyone's tech support, but EVGA is worse than average. I had to enter all my product information into the web form and apparently no one bothered to read it.

Most Critical Review

Done with Linksys

LINKSYS BEFSR41 EtherFast Cable/DSL Router with 4-Port Switch 1 x 10/100Mbps WAN Ports 4 x 10/100Mbps LAN Ports
LINKSYS BEFSR41 EtherFast Cable/DSL Router with 4-Port Switch 1 x 10/100Mbps WAN Ports 4 x 10/100Mbps LAN Ports

Pros: Has all the features you would normall expect in a low-cost home router.

Cons: The router started acting up a few weeks ago - problems would go away after a restart. Last night the router finally died - leaving me without my IP phone service. I called support to request an RMA. Of course they wanted me to go through all the debugging steps I had already accomplished. After about 40 minutes on the phone I decided it would be cheaper to just buy a new router then waste half a day on the phone, considering I would have to box up the H/W and pay for shipping anyway. I am done with linksys forever.

Overall Review: I am a network engineer and purchase and recommend hardware to my clients, friends and collegues. Many years ago Gateway failed to provide proper support for their hardware and it has cost them 10s of thousands of dollars in lost sales. I will NEVER purchase or recommend Linksys again. Isn't there any English speaking cheap tech support in the world? The Linksys Indian Tech was impossible to understand and I had to call back.
