Excellent product for tea or as companion to an Aeropress coffee maker
Pros: Reaches precise programmed temperature quickly and holds it for programmed time. Presets for common tea types Easy to clean Looks good (cute led lighting)
Cons: Instructions are a little confusing, but I figured it out.
Overall Review: I've only used it for tea a couple of times, but it worked just fine. I bought it primarily for heating water for an Aeropress coffee press, which recommends 176 degrees Fahrenheit water (hotter brings out the bitter oils). The previous variable temp kettle I used was the usual bimetallic strip temperature control, which was all over the map on temperature depending on starting conditions, whether the kettle was still hot, etc., so I had to use a thermometer all the time. Useless. This works well (the preset I used rounds to 180, but that's close enough, and the actual temperature is indicated more precisely once you turn it off. Furthermore, since it's actually sensing the temperature precisely, initial conditions don't matter, and I can make cup after cup. Price was only $35 on sale at Newegg, but it's worth it at full price.
