Pros: It's large and heavy so feels rather robust and durable. Popped it in and everything was a go right off the bat, no problems at all.

Cons: None

Beautiful TV/Monitor But Not For Gaming

Changhong 42" Class Ultra HD LED TV - UD42YC5500UA
Changhong 42" Class Ultra HD LED TV - UD42YC5500UA

Pros: The picture in 4k is absolutely gorgeous. Viewed 4k videos on youtube and the picture was on a whole other level. Even as a monitor the screen is nice and crisp and just as easy to read as my 25" monitor.

Cons: That said... it is a horrible MONITOR for gaming. The input lag is so bad that you cannot play any game that requires any sort of speed. I tried Dirt3 and although the picture was amazing, I couldn't get past the first few corners without smashing into walls because the input lag is just that bad. You turn left and then right and the monitor is still showing the car go left while you pushing right. I timed the input lag to be at around 295ms...so I don't really get how the manufacturer came up with 8ms.

Overall Review: If you are just watching movies, GET THIS T.V! However if you are looking for a 4k monitor, skip this one. I am trying out the Polaroid DE416T1N4AU 42IN which has HDMI 2.0 and is 60hz. Reviews say it works well as a monitor and it's only $376, I'll update this review if it's effective and maybe newegg will carry it one day. Once you've seen a 42" monitor...you can't really go back.

Follow up review.

Changhong 42" Class Ultra HD LED TV - UD42YC5500UA

Pros: This is a follow up review to my last. After trying everything, I was never able to get it to play games at any playable level. However I sold it to my sister for what it was designed for, a 4k tv and it's doing that just fine and with great quality.

Cons: Originally purchased it as a monitor and it fails to meet those expectation at all. The mouse cursor visibly lags behind your movements as can be immediately noticed which makes it extremely hard to click on anything. As for gaming, the same input lag is apparent and all your actions are displayed on the screen far after you initiate the input. This makes it impossible to play games of a fast pace such as racing or fps. On games with slow movement it may not be as much a problem however.

Overall Review: Note that I only played games at 4k resolutions (3840 x 2160) not 1920 x 1080 or less. The review below me states no problems playing Crysis 3 on a gts450 but they were obviously not playing at 4k due to the graphics cards capabilities and they were using pc mode via sxga which has a resolution of 1280 x 1024, a step down from most 21" and up monitors. If you are not looking for 4k resolutions but simply a cheap 42" tv, then again this may be a good solution. I upgraded to the Polaroid DE416T1N3AU which is the same size 4k tv but runs at 60hz via HDMI 2.0 and it works perfectly as a monitor both for regular pc use and gaming and it was only slightly more. Hopefully Newegg will carry this tv as it is a great and cheap 4k gaming solution. Will never go back to 20"-30" monitors, much less anything below 4k.

BEASTLY!

EVGA 03G-P3-1594-KR GeForce GTX 580 (Fermi) Classified 3GB 384-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card

Pros: Just got this bad boy and what a beast!! Running along side a gtx 460v2 and runs pretty much 2x exactly in my 3d rendering....see other thoughts.

Cons: It's huge but you should expect that. The two 8-pin and one 6-pin PCI-E plug requirements make cable management a bit tricky but no big deal. Sounds like a vacuum with the fan at 100% but that's not really a con to me as it usually doesn't get that high and I have headphones if need be.

Overall Review: I bought this bad boy over a gtx 660 TI because it's slightly faster in CUDA rendering and also it's 3gb of 384bit vram so it was a no brainer. Only $350 after rebates so what a steal since I see it is back up to $530 at the time of writing this. This will be rendering 24/7 when needed while I use my gtx460 for games/ regular pc work....love it.
