my eyes are melting

SAPPHIRE Radeon HD 7950 3GB GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 CrossFireX Support Video Card 100352-2L
SAPPHIRE Radeon HD 7950 3GB GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 CrossFireX Support Video Card 100352-2L

Pros: Runs quiet, runs cool (cooler than my crossfired Radeon 4600's), and runs FAST. And the price was exactly what I wanted (and waited for).

Cons: It's BIG - had to move a hard drive so it could take the entire depth. Not seeing what other 79XX's are like, I can't take an egg away for that. And it DID fit.

Overall Review: The price point seems to be at the trough of the tech curve, so I finally decided to take the dive. What a HUGE difference. Running at max resolution and refresh rate without suffering any of the jittering with my archaic crossfire setup. And set up was super easy - no problems at all with swapping out the cards and drive installation.

Most Critical Review

pretty, but pretty useless

Rosewill RX-C200 2.5" SSD / HDD Aluminum Mounting Kit for 3.5" Drive Bay
Rosewill RX-C200 2.5" SSD / HDD Aluminum Mounting Kit for 3.5" Drive Bay

Pros: the black finish is nice.

Cons: the holes for installing in a 3.5" slot are entirely wrong. Wrong height, wrong depth, and wrong diameter/thread. Really?! Is it really beyond the geniuses at rosewill to look up this universally available standard that's been around for 3 decades?

Overall Review: do NOT buy this assuming that it will adapt to how you would install a 3.5" hdd. The ONLY things it got right are the widths - 2.5" for the ssd and 3.5" for the bay. Even rosewill couldn't screw up those. First and last time I purchase any of their products.

Pleasantly surprised!

MSI MPG Z690 CARBON WIFI DDR5 LGA 1700 Intel Z690 SATA 6Gb/s ATX Intel Motherboard
MSI MPG Z690 CARBON WIFI DDR5 LGA 1700 Intel Z690 SATA 6Gb/s ATX Intel Motherboard

Pros: - Offers all the latest tech and revisions for the LGA 1700 chipset without being excessive and overly expensive. It is the Goldilocks for mid to high end builds (not sure if this is for an extreme PC). - Plenty of ports and connectors for all my peripherals and future expansions. - Build quality feels high, reliable, and durable. - I like the overall design: sleek and stylish with clean lines and a modest touch of RGB without being gaudy. - Layout of the board is logical and simple to navigate and everything is clearly labeled.

Cons: - This is a stretch, but the price? But it's still less expensive than comparably configured competitors. Then again, everything LGA 1700 and DDR5 related is more expensive right now.

Overall Review: This review is for the MSI Review Rebate Program. I have always used an Asus motherboard in 5 or 6 builds over the past 20 years. I only purchased this as a bundle with DDR5 memory (thank you Newegg Shuffle!). I previewed this board versus the Asus and Gigabyte motherboards in other bundles, and after a bit of hasty online research (tech sites, reviews, and videos) determined that I'd be happy with this MSI motherboard and determined that I would immediately purchase it if I was selected. After receiving it (super fast shipping), I feel this was the perfect solution for my needs. It provided all the specifications I required for casual gaming, video/audio/photo editing, and data analytics (depending on how DDR5's true potential is realized). The Asus models I considered were more expensive for the same specs or had overly extreme specs that I did not need at double the cost. So, IMHO this is a great middle to high end motherboard for a very reasonable price. Definitely overkill for lower end builds and possible for extreme PCs.

I do like it, now that it's been replaced

NZXT APERTURE M All-in-one 5.25 Bay Multi-Media Mesh Style Card Reader w. Dual USB 3.0
NZXT APERTURE M All-in-one 5.25 Bay Multi-Media Mesh Style Card Reader w. Dual USB 3.0

Pros: It really does look great on my rig - finish matches perfectly with the case. The build quality seems good. And it's got all the memory slots and USB 3.0 ports I wanted. Fits the bill.

Cons: The first unit's memory card section kept flaking out every other month. I'd have to re-connect the USB 2.0 plug for it to function again. The USB 3.0 section worked fine throughout.

Overall Review: Ultimately, I contacted NZXT to replace the unit, which they did without hesitation. Still had to pay for S/H to send the bad unit to them. But that's fair. When the unit works, it's great. I'm hoping the replacement keeps going strong. I will give this unit 5 stars; even though the reliability knocks it down to a 4, the customer service brings it back to 5.

nice but hefty

SOG Knives Powerlock Multi-Tool EOD with V-Cutter (S63-N)
SOG Knives Powerlock Multi-Tool EOD with V-Cutter (S63-N)

Pros: the pliers works great - very powerful without needing to use a lot of grip. the other tools are satisfactory and serve their functions. it feels strong, durable, and reliable. the carry case is nice - clips on rather than a loop. not as secure as the loop, but much easier to put on/take off.

Cons: the little lids that cover the accessory tools seem unnecessary and get in the way. one even popped off when trying to lift it. and the tool is pretty heavy. i thought it odd that the blade is ground on only one side, but i suppose it works fine.

Overall Review: i have the leatherman surge. between the two, i prefer the surge. this SOG is my backup stored in my glovebox. the leatherman stays in the toolbox. the only part that excels in the SOG is the pliers.

hot stuff!

Delonghi HMP1500 1500W Mica Thermic Heater
Delonghi HMP1500 1500W Mica Thermic Heater

Pros: Standalone or wall mountable, slim profile, safety grate, two heat settings, quiet, and thermostat. Heats a 120sqft room on low setting and thermostat at 3 to 70deg while it's 30deg outside and house heat set at 62. Heated an uninsulated, unheated attached two car garage to 65deg while it's 30deg outside on high setting in about two hours.

Cons: Be mindful that the heat rises directly.above the unit. There is no fan to circulate the heat, it works on convection. So, if you wall mount it, dont have anything above it. It'll most likely melt.

Overall Review: Much faster than my small ceramic heater. Can't say anything about cost efficiency compared to other types such as ceramic or oil filled radiators.
