ASRock Z97M OC Formula

ASRock Z97M OC Formula LGA 1150 Intel Z97 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard
ASRock Z97M OC Formula LGA 1150 Intel Z97 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard

Pros: Booted up on first try, no problems whatsoever. Instantly recognized the M.2 as the boot drive, I could install Windows 8.1 to it without having to use a thumb drive or adjust anything in the UEFI. When I put in my ram, it automatically used the XMP profile for it, again, no adjustments needed. Overall, very happy with this board. Haven't tried overclocking the processor yet, but I'm sure this board will handle it just like it handled everything else.

Cons: none so far

Overall Review: This is a spartan board, as far as extra features. If you're not comfortable messing with jumper settings to clear the cmos, or doing your own diagnostics if something goes wrong (no beep codes or led warnings on this board) then this may not be the board for you.

Archgon Slot-loading Internal Blu-ray Burner with One Bay for 2.5"/3.5" SSD or HDD
Archgon Slot-loading Internal Blu-ray Burner with One Bay for 2.5"/3.5" SSD or HDD

Pros: Slot load

Cons: I've have this drive for almost 1 month everything works, except the drive performs quite slowly. It took almost 10 minutes to copy about 300 MB worth of JPGs. Even installing programs from a DVD takes a lot longer than I feel it should. Really disappointed because everything else on the computer is fast. (I have an 8 sec. boot) I assume it must be a problem with my particular drive because I haven't seen anyone else complain about this drive being slow online. No Blu-ray firmware updates. Almost every other Blu-ray player I've seen, get firmware updates, not this one. (The actual drive is a pioneer uj-265) So, whatever functionality this blu-ray player has when you get it, you're stuck with. I emailed Archgon to try to resolve these issues, when they couldn't help me, they told me it was a "problem of personal usage" and then told me to return the drive - just like that - no mention of warranty or if I would get my money back or what. See "Other thoughts" for our email conversation.

Overall Review: Thank you for your purchase! First of all, we hope you can understand the optical drive has no firmware issue. Panasonic has never release any firmware to update Firmware should not a problem. In addition, we need to check with you if this UJ-265 (max. 6X BD-R burning speed) works smoothly before? (work as your expectation) We have to say the disc burning is a complicated action for a drive. There are too many factors leading to slow burning speed. It is hard to say which burning speed is normal. For example, it always takes more time to copy 50G or 100GB data into your computer. You can also change the speed of burning if you use software. Anyway, we need more detailed information when you feel the speed is too slow to burning. Archgon Customer Support Clifton Taylor Jun 3 (6 days ago) to Eason Hello, Thank you for your quick response. But I think you misunderstood me. I was not referring to the burning process. It performs slowly when simply TRANSFERRING or COPYING files (not burning) from a DVD to my SSD. I was trying to transfer jpg files from a disk that I had previously burned to my SSD and it took a very long time. About 300 MB took almost 10 minutes. I just installed this drive last week and have not tried to burn anything yet, but the long transfer times is what struck me right away. Dear Cliff Thank you for writng back to us. We understand you just want to remove your data from DVD to SSD. We can not guarantee how many seconds will be required to remove a 300MB JPEG file because it is still a complicated problem. But we hope you can try to remove files separately, DO NOT transfer 10 or 20 files in one time. (it is the way how USB cable transfer data) Also, try to close windows or turn off other applications when you remove file. In this way you can keep your computer working in a simple environment. It always rises the efficiency. p.s. it is easy but it will takes long time to copy many files in one time and remove them just between different folders Archgon Customer Support Clifton Taylor <clifton.taylor@gmail.com> Jun 4 (5 days ago) to Eason I'm just saying, my old drive runs faster. I thought since this was a new drive that it would perform faster than the old one. If you can't help me get this drive faster or at least explain to me why this drive is new but slow, then I might as well just put my old drive back in. I haven't made a review of this drive yet, it all depends on whether I can resolve this issue or not. Is there a way I can send you a video or something so you can see how slow it is? Dear Clifton Due to limited information, we are unable to determine the problem you have experienced. We will think it is a problem of “personal usage” instead of a issue of “new or old”. We apologize for inconvenience. Please return the drive to us. Archgon Customer Support

MSI GeForce GT 730 1GB GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 Low Profile Video Card N730K-1GD5LP/OC

Pros: Easy install. Came with low profile brackets for installation in smaller cases. Breathed new life into my 7 year old PC.

Cons: None

SAPPHIRE Radeon R9 270X 2GB GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 CrossFireX Support Video Card 100364L
SAPPHIRE Radeon R9 270X 2GB GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 CrossFireX Support Video Card 100364L

Pros: Came with free games, had an instant rebate, looks cool.

Cons: Absolutely no video whatsoever. I Installed the card, booted up the computer to install the drivers but got no video. I heard the Windows 7 start-up music so I know the computer booted just fine. I thought maybe I had to install the drivers first, but since I had no video out on my motherboard, I had to re-install my old video card to get video to install the drivers. After installing the drivers and re-installing my new card, still no video. Sapphire's customer service was useless. Impossible at the very least, cumbersome at best. RMA'd for a replacement because I want to give this card another chance. All the good reviews it got can't be a fluke. Bad batch maybe?

Overall Review: First time in 8 years that I've had to RMA any product from Newegg. I must say the process was painless and smooth. Thanks Newegg!

Crucial M500 CT240M500SSD1 2.5" 240GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: Product is fine. Product is small. Got it on sale for less than Samsungs 128GB SSD.

Cons: Only con I have is that it didn't come with an adapter bracket to mount in a 3.5" cage. My case came with one but I used it to install a card reader and there was no store anywhere around here that had one that I could just buy, and I didn't feel like ordering online again and waiting a few days for it to come in, so I just used Velcro to stick it in my case.

Overall Review: It did come with some kind of spacer of some sort, I saw no mention of it in their online instructions and I didn't know what it was - so I tossed it.
