Most Critical Review

Poor performance after use.

Intel X25-E SSDSA2SH032G1 2.5" 32GB SATA II SLC Enterprise Solid State Disk
Intel X25-E SSDSA2SH032G1 2.5" 32GB SATA II SLC Enterprise Solid State Disk

Pros: The X25-E drives are extremely fast when new and have a much longer operational life than MLC drives. Intel has good wear leveling to extend life of the drive.

Cons: These rapidly deteriorate in performance once all cells have been written to, it won't take long if you are doing big sequential writes as I am using them as high speed scratch disks and temporary work areas for large images. At this point they really suck with few options to refresh their cells, especially if you don't want to lose the data.

Overall Review: Win 7 trim option doesn't work. Intel's toolbox optimizer doesn't work. Intel doesn't seem to want to fix that. Only way I know to fix is to use secure erase which loses all data. No prob on temp or scratch disks but to do it you must enter bios, change ACHI to IDE drives, be sure SSD is on 1-4 sata port , erase and then reverse in bios. Too much to do so often if this is a production unit and operators are not computer knowledgeable. In my opinion Intel should not be selling these drives without full disclosure of the above limitations.
