Most Favorable Review

Great for the price at the time.

Seagate BarraCuda STBD2000101 2TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Retail Packaging

Pros: 2TB drive for $99 in 2013 was a great deal. Quiet and used as a mirrored set of storage drives Used them to double my storage and replace a pair of 1TB drives. They lasted 5 years before started failing.

Cons: None to speak of, 5 years of service is pretty good for a spinning hard drive, especially for the price I paid.

Overall Review: Both drives have failed with in 6 months of each other after nearly 5 years of constant use. Moving up to 4TB drives to double the storage again. I hope the new ones last at least as long as these did.

Most Critical Review

Part recieved doesnt match what was ordered.

MaxDigital 4TB 7200RPM 64MB Cache SATA III 6.0Gb/s (Surveillance CCTV DVR Storage) 3.5" Internal Hard Drive w/2 Year Warranty
MaxDigital 4TB 7200RPM 64MB Cache SATA III 6.0Gb/s (Surveillance CCTV DVR Storage) 3.5" Internal Hard Drive w/2 Year Warranty

Pros: order went through fine and part received 4 business days later. Emails from Newegg kept me well informed of order status.

Cons: On the part received the label shows model # is MD4000GBDS and the spindle speed is 5400RPM. The description of this part clearly shows it should be 7200RPM. Tried to call the phone # included in the box for go hard drive (626-593-9927) but it rang about 10 times and disconnected. No recording or way to leave a message. Sent Email to [email protected] with pictures. Am awaiting response.

Overall Review: Hoping the issue is properly addressed. Disappointed that an RMA will mean it will be that much longer before I have a replacement drive.

Did the job: powered my new build

EVGA 1000GQ 210-GQ-1000-V1 GQ 80 Plus Gold, 1000W ECO Mode Semi Modular Power Supply

Pros: Price was right

Cons: Died after 3 months

Overall Review: Bought this to be a bit oversized for the build hoping it not being stressed would mean it would have a long life. Unfortunately after only 3 months there was a pop and it no longer powers up the PC. About to start the return process, so we'll see how that goes.

good value for the cost

Diablotek ZR ZR500 500 W ATX Power Supply
Diablotek ZR ZR500 500 W ATX Power Supply

Pros: did the job. ordered 2 and both worked right out of the box. One got put in my desktop, the other stored as a test/backup PSU. Still running good even though the fan stopped spinning and its running a bit hot. I've had it power down at least twice on me due to the fan. let it cool off a bit and its good to go again.

Cons: Fan has failed in it after only a little over a year. Lube it up and it starts spinning for a few days and then gets locked up again. Will replace the fan since it other wise seems to be a pretty hearty PSU.

Overall Review: Seems to be a common failure with most PSUs because the fan is mounted horizontally which doesn't work well with how the barrings are designed.

Good value for the cost, but only lasted 4 years

Western Digital WD Green WD10EADS 1TB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: Was a great buy when I bought this drive 4 years ago at $70.00. It has run in my desktop since it was installed to replace another failed WD drive. I use it for storage, not the boot drive.

Cons: Only lasted 4 years and now is not recognized at all but still spins. not bad for a spindle HDD, but I've seen other drives last longer.

Overall Review: Seems like HDs just don't last like they used to. I remember older HDDs used to last forever, but now it seems like it is the most common thing to fail.
