Major trouble installing on laptop, but fixed it.

HyperX 3K 2.5" 120GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) (Stand-Alone Drive) SH103S3/120G
HyperX 3K 2.5" 120GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) (Stand-Alone Drive) SH103S3/120G

Pros: Installed this on a "Samsung Series 7 Gamer" Laptop. Took out one of the 750GB, 7200 rpm drives and installed this beast. My laptop comes with 8GB worth of ExpressCache which makes bootup similar to having a SSD. But I did notice a difference between the regular hard drive and the SSD. The 750GB drive the laptop came with gave a 5.9 rating in the Windows Experience Index, while the SSD gave a 7.5. Clearly a much better rating, but using CrystalDiskMark confirmed it is indeed faster.

Cons: I had some problems getting the laptop to recognize it. I had to change a bunch of BIOS settings to finally get it to find the drive. I think the initial problem came from the computer booting so fast that the SSD didn't have time to turn on. I find this same problem when using OCZ SSD drives in my desktop setups. Sometimes booting up, the drive isn't seen. But this problem can take days to months to surface. As this is not an OCZ drive, and I've only had the drive for a month, I cannot say for sure if this problem will arise. I'm hopeful it will not, as I've had 8 OCZ drives, 6 of which had that problem.

Overall Review: Overall, a great drive with amazing SATA-3 speeds. I got this drive during a promotion when the drive was $59. Been waiting for the drive to drop that low again, but I don't think it will for awhile. 4 out of 5 stars for the laptop not seeing the drive from the outset. I'd rate it 4.5 if I could, since it works great once you overcome those obstacles.

Most Critical Review

It's great, when it isn't making noise

HIS Radeon HD 4890 1GB GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 CrossFireX Support Video Card H489F1GP
HIS Radeon HD 4890 1GB GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 CrossFireX Support Video Card H489F1GP

Pros: The card is great and fast when it isn't making noise.

Cons: The ball bearing on the fan makes a ton of noise. I called HIS (after taking an hour trying to track down their phone number, to no avail, yet finding it here). They basically told me they would RMA the card and take it back. That it would take 3-4 weeks. Their procedure is to have you ship them the card for 3-4 weeks and then you'll get a fixed card after that period. I asked if they had an exchange program like most other manufacturers, where they take your credit card info and ship you an identical card, then you use the box to ship them back the old one. They said they do not have such a program. So basically, you're out of a computer while they get your card fixed. The tech support guy actually had the nerve to say "buy a new card if you need a computer for that period of time". I couldn't believe he said that. What's the purpose of a warranty if I have to buy a new card?

Overall Review: I called Newegg to complain and was sent to escalations. They are taking back this card 5 months after I bought it for a 15% restocking fee, though I get to keep the mail-in rebate (which still hasn't arrived 5 months after purchase, might I add). They will give me a refund (not store credit). I'm already shopping for a new non-HIS card. Whatever you do, don't buy this card. Buy from another company. How these people stay in business with this kind of customer service is beyond me. On their webpage's Support section, you put in the serial number of the card and it shoots you back to the homepage. You go back to Support and do it again, and it shoots you back to the homepage again. I couldn't find the Tech Support telephone number anywhere, except for the company main line in Hong Kong which doesn't help me. I love Newegg. They took care of me and kept me a loyal customer. This company has the best customer service in the industry.

Not happy with it, at all.

Noctua NH-L9i, Premium Low-Profile CPU Cooler for Intel LGA1200 & LGA115x (Brown)
Noctua NH-L9i, Premium Low-Profile CPU Cooler for Intel LGA1200 & LGA115x (Brown)

Pros: - Packaging is pretty nice. You can tell they spent a lot of time on it - Quality is great, for the price

Cons: - Can't keep my i9-9900k cool at all. My CPU maxes out at 100C, then downclocks to save itself from burning out. - Took off the Low-Noise Adapter, and it still can't keep my CPU cool - Reapplied thermal paste, same problem. - Even with my case open, it still won't stay cool.

Overall Review: - I wouldn't recommend if you have an i9 processor, or any other CPU that gets really high-temp.

Very Very Cheap Quality

Ginsu 04816 Bamboo Series 16-Piece Stainless Steel Knife Set with Block
Ginsu 04816 Bamboo Series 16-Piece Stainless Steel Knife Set with Block

Pros: Sharp Blades, Wooden block is high quality.

Cons: These things rust so easy. If you leave them in your dishwasher, or if you leave them out with water on them, they will rust, and rust bad.

Overall Review: Stainless steel is not supposed to really rust. These knives began rusting after the first week. It's obvious many of the people writing reviews here, wrote reviews right when they got the knives. Heck, I would've given out 5 eggs in the first week too, but after that, they began rusting. I can't eat with them with all the rust, especially on the blade-edges. CLR worked to clean them up a bit, but they just come back the next time you wash them. I would avoid, and look for a higher grade of stainless steel. I'm quite sure if these blades were forged, rather than stamped, they would last a lot longer.

Not too happy about the rebate.

OCZ Summit 2.5" 60GB SATA II MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) OCZSSD2-1SUM60G
OCZ Summit 2.5" 60GB SATA II MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) OCZSSD2-1SUM60G

Pros: Speed is quick. Everything opens instantaneously. World of Warcraft loads zones faster than my cable modem can load them. The bar usually loads all the way to the right, but sits there waiting on the server. This thing is extremely fast. Even write speeds are fast.

Cons: When this drive was on the Shell Shocker deal for $129.99 (after $30 mail-in rebate), I bought 3. One for me, one for my girlfriend's laptop and one for my best friend's birthday. Because the billing address was pointed to my house, I read the fine print while I was filling out the rebate. The drive's page on Newegg said "Limit 10", however; the rebate said I could only send in one rebate for one of the drives. "Limit 1 per customer, per order, per household". Yes, totally my fault for not reading the fine print, I get it. Just sucks I was thrown off on the main page for the drive that said "Limit 10". Why have Limit 10 when you can only send the rebate in for one of the 10? OCZ is in charge of the rebate program, and I really don't understand why they're trying to be slick. The whole purpose a rebate is to get people to buy something they normally wouldn't buy, get them to hopefully not fill out the rebate and keep their money. Oh, I guess what they did makes sense now

Overall Review: Totally not happy with how they handle rebates. Even when you fill it out, there's this huge block of text that basically says "Get your card in a few days for a small fee of $3 or wait 8-10 weeks" and there's a radio button already clicked for the "wait a few days" and you have to find the radio button amongst lots of text to get the card with no fees. It just seems shady to me. Unfortunately, the company that hosts the website does the rebates for a LOT of tech companies. I've even had a rebate denied from this company for not affixing the label on the rebate printout. Instead of affixing it, I just wrote in whatever was on the label. How do you deny a rebate because you didn't use a label? The company they use are a bunch of crooks, in my opinion. But what does that matter. I'm just a peon in a crowd.
