Pros: Great performance, great deal.
Overall Review: I have 2 of these in my girlfriend's ASUS/Athlon system and it runs beautifully. I went ahead and added one to my box that had only 512mb beforehand, and wow what a difference. My system is Albatron mobo, Athlon XP 2500+, 126mb GeForce FX5500, and I went from lagging like hell in towns in WoW at mediocre graphics to running through Ironforge with the settings maxed. I think RAM is one of the most important performance factors, and this is a good way to increase yours.
Pros: Does not give you rabies - that I know of. Worked well when it worked; ran for 2+ months without a reset with no trouble. But of course trying to get it to boot in the first place was hell...
Cons: TOTAL JUNK. I currently have the third bad K8U-X sent to me by Asus. I will never buy another Asus mobo, and am on the verge of giving up on RMA's with this and simply buying a better brand.
Overall Review: I must thank Newegg who gave us store credit for a fair portion of the original cost when our Asus interactions went sour. They had no obligation to do so. Asus saga: 1st board worked perfectly for a week, then started this where it would not boot - no BIOS, nada. Turning off the PSU & trying again would eventually get it to boot; after sometimes hours, sometimes days of trying. Ran perfectly as long as you wanted, IF it came up. When we had time to RMA it, we were without a system for a few weeks while things shipped. 2nd board worked for a few days then started doing exactly the same thing. Yes I tested every single other component in the system save the CPU, and tested the system in all kinds of configurations. I had HORRIBLE experience with tech support (one half asleep guy hung up on me when he decided he was done) & after a few days got another replacement sent to me w/o sending mine first. Third one booted 5 out of first 7 attempts and not since in 75+
Attractive, quiet, weak.
Pros: Looks great, quiet, inexpensive, front USB and audio ports.
Cons: Backside PS2/USB/serial/etc hole plate is cheesy, 12V is only 12A.
Overall Review: Generally quite pleased with this. My Asus K8U-X motherboard fits in nicely. The case looks good, both the PS and the case fan are very quiet, and the system runs plenty cool with stock heatsink/CPU fan. The sheet with the holes for your backside PS2/USB/etc jacks didn't line up well and put too much tension on the jacks for my liking so I just removed it. The power supply's 3.3V, 5V, and 12V lines are 20A, 30A, and 12A respectively. I've had booting issues with the motherboard and tech tells me it's insufficent amperage on the 12V line, so make sure that's enough for you. Other than those two things, quite nice!
Touch of flair
Pros: Pleasant colors, powerful mouse LED.
Cons: Mouse stays on unless power supply is off, not just computer. Drivers came on a floppy.
Overall Review: I was finishing up the order for my girlfriend's system and asked her if she'd like to pick out her own keyboard/mouse. She really likes the blue. The mouse's LED matches our Codegen case's well. The set isn't german-car solid built, but it is good. The drivers for the fancy buttons came on a floppy - a bit antiquated imo. I don't have 3.5" drives anymore, and didn't find the drivers online. Not a big deal since the fancy buttons don't get used anyway, and of course everything else still works.
Wow - what a deal!
Pros: Great performance, great value.
Cons: Not cutting edge.
Overall Review: I have this in a system with an ASUS K8U-X, Athlon 64 3000+, 1 gig Corsair ram. Runs beautifully! I have played Auto Assault, LockOn, TrackMania, and of course WoW at full graphics setting without issue. I'm very impressed with the performance this card deals out, especially given its price bracket. Two thumbs up, as they say.
Pros: Doesn't come more inexpensive or basic than this; black faceplate
Overall Review: If you want more features, go find them elsewhere. This drive reads CDs, and that's all you have to pay for. Got it for a screaming deal and it works well, bonus that it came with a black faceplate.
