Nice TV

SAMSUNG ToC T220HD Rose Black 22" 5ms HDMI Widescreen HDTV Monitor 300 cd/m2 DC 10000:1 Built in DTV Tuner & Dolby Digital Surround Speakers
SAMSUNG ToC T220HD Rose Black 22" 5ms HDMI Widescreen HDTV Monitor 300 cd/m2 DC 10000:1 Built in DTV Tuner & Dolby Digital Surround Speakers

Pros: Great QAM tuner, speeds thru channels compared to some other TVS. Looks nifty and will look great in the RV.

Cons: 16:10 aspect ratio is not standard for TV , which is 16:9 in high def - it's a monitor first and a TV second. Minor issue because it can upscale nicely. The back is far from flat, so wall mounting it requires a special bracket (Samsung PN WMB1900T) for connection to a wall mounting bracket. I had to find it elsewherea, and it was $32.22 shipped. Still, it's a good TV for the price.

Overall Review: For home use in almost any room, I'd definitely step up to something larger. Speedy Newegg delivery and everything arrived in good condition.

G.SKILL 8GB 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM DDR3L 1333 (PC3L 10600) Laptop Memory Model F3-1333C9S-8GSL

Pros: Worked initially

Cons: Failed after 2 days. BSOD, corrupted HD could not reinstall windows. Problems went away with a different memory module. It worked fine initially. Will RMA

YAMAHA RX-A2030 9.2-Channel Receiver
YAMAHA RX-A2030 9.2-Channel Receiver

Pros: Good sound, plenty of clean power for my application

Cons: The interface is too complex. Different processing schemes are too hard to keep switched off when switching around inputs and the receiver is far too complex and cumbersome to use even when you figure out how. Most of the "scenes" sound horrid and no one in their right mind would ever use the vast majority of them. Yamaha is more into providing lots of useless features than it is into providing a useful, easy to use interface.

Overall Review: Not worth the $800 I paid, let alone the list price that's almost twice as much.

Ceton Echo – Windows Media Center Extender Watch Live & Recorded TV/HDTV Access Personal Media Libraries on Any TV on Home Network, HDMI Interface, Remote Included
Ceton Echo – Windows Media Center Extender Watch Live & Recorded TV/HDTV Access Personal Media Libraries on Any TV on Home Network, HDMI Interface, Remote Included

Pros: None.

Cons: They do not stay connected to the MCE server. Poor playback of even SD video in ANY format, has trouble sometimes playing HD TV. I own two of these, and they are a waste of money. Ceton gives a lot of garbage about this not being typical - but it is. Just read the forums and you'll see. Don't trust Ceton or this product.

Overall Review: The idea of a media center extender was a good one, however, it's never been implemented properly at a reasonable price.

Displayport fail

ASUS Z87-DELUXE LGA 1150 Intel Z87 HDMI USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
ASUS Z87-DELUXE LGA 1150 Intel Z87 HDMI USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

Pros: Very solid Linux performer, except as noted below.

Cons: No DVI or VGA out. Displayport convert to VGA fails to init the display in Linux reliably with an active converter. I've tried multiple Linux distros. It absolutely sucks that you need to put in an external graphics card just to hook up to vga kvm for console display. Asus, get a clue. .

Overall Review: Lack of video ports other than displayport and HDMI is rediculous, especially when displayport is not properly implemented. minus two full eggs.

HDMI includes AUDIO. This FAILS.

EVGA 01G-P3-N988-TR GeForce 9800 GT HDMI 1GB 256-bit DDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card
EVGA 01G-P3-N988-TR GeForce 9800 GT HDMI 1GB 256-bit DDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card

Pros: typical 9800GT video performace - solid.

Cons: No cable provided to enable audio through the HDMI port. No part number or ordering info provided for the cable. This is very uncool of both Newegg and EVGA. A boxed product advertised to support HDMI should come equipped to handle HDMI, not just HDMI video.
