Decent Laptop for a Decent price

ASUS 15.6" Intel Pentium T4400 4GB Memory Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
ASUS 15.6" Intel Pentium T4400 4GB Memory Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit

Pros: This laptop is one of 2 brands in this price range with the specs as of 02/23/2010. It was either this one or an Ac*r that is comporable.Tthe only major difference spec wise is, the Ac*r had 2 megs of L2 cache and this one only has 1. However this one comes with a GT 320 GPU while the Ac*r only has a 130 GT GPU. Realistically, game performance would be the same. What sold me on this laptop is the free 1 year accidental damage warranty and a free 2 year limited parts and labor warranty. The Ac*r only has a 1 year limited parts and labor warranty. With that said, Asus seems to be a quality brand that is willing to stand behind their product and the warranty says it all.

Cons: This laptop casing is HIGH GLOSS! Beware of finger print smugges. It does look really slick when clean though.Whenever that happens:) The finger scroll pad is porous and has a high friction on your finger tips at first due to the high gloss finish. once the pad is "greesy" from finger prints it works fine. There isn't any up and down scroll bar on the side of the pad that allows you to scroll web pages. "at least none that I am aware of"

Overall Review: This computer comes with a SMART LOGON function, that takes your picture with the web cam. Upon logging in, instead of putting in your password, you can click the smart logon button and the web cam recognizes your face and allows you to pass. This is a cool function that isn't mentioned anywhere in the advertising. PS, when you set up this function take several pictures with the web cam from different angles and at different lighting to have it recognize you quickly.

Monster Cooler

COOLER MASTER RR-CCH-L9U1-GP 92mm Hyper TX2 CPU Cooler
COOLER MASTER RR-CCH-L9U1-GP 92mm Hyper TX2 CPU Cooler

Pros: Huge surface area for max heat dissapation, copper heatsink and tubes, also a large fan.

Cons: shotty mounting brackets for 939 mobo seemed kind of loose, very large design, had to remove intel brackets, but that wasn't hard

Overall Review: Bought this with a $20 rebate, so how could I go wrong? If I was going to spend the money for an after market cooler, I would probably use a different model.

Highest Powered Netbook for The Price

Asus Eee PC 1225B-BU17-BK 11.6" LED Netbook - AMD E-450 1.65 GHz
Asus Eee PC 1225B-BU17-BK 11.6" LED Netbook - AMD E-450 1.65 GHz

Pros: Light wieght, semi-powerful, matte finish exterior, full 1080p movie playback, HDMI port, dual core, 4g memory and decent graphics.

Cons: Price this netbook is more expensive than the Asus equivalent 15.6" laptop, Battery life, but with higher performance you eat up battery power. High gloss screen and glare, but with a matte screen you wouldn't be able to enjoy HD playback as much. Touch pad has some glitches when trying to highlight something to cut and paste. The touch pad works though. Still can get bogged down when trying to play music and work on documents at the same time. It comes with bloatware that can slow performance.

Overall Review: I bought this netbook for 2 reasons: Portability and Power. The price point is ok being under five hundred bucks. I think it could be offered lower if supply could reach demand. Overall I am happy with this purchase and use this netbook daily. Newegg rocks, they always have eggactly what I need :)

Best DDR for the price

ADATA 2GB (2 x 1GB) DDR 400 (PC 3200) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model AD1U400A1G3-DRH
ADATA 2GB (2 x 1GB) DDR 400 (PC 3200) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model AD1U400A1G3-DRH

Pros: Quick install, worked, dual channel, heatsink.

Cons: None. DDR in general is overpriced! it's, suppossed to be old technology, so why is the newer technology less expensive?

Overall Review: The price of DDR ram will fall eventually, hopefully sooner thna later.

Value Card

XFX PVT84JUDD3 GeForce 8600GT XXX 256MB 128-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 SLI Supported Video Card
XFX PVT84JUDD3 GeForce 8600GT XXX 256MB 128-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 SLI Supported Video Card

Pros: Very economical card, Runs COD4 on 1280 X 1024 without too much lag, comes with a free game, 10X capable, easy install, SLI, Faster than the other xfx 8600gt model, good upgrade without braking the bank.

Cons: The bare minumum for 10X compatable games. If you are looking for a card that will blow away the latest games graphic wise then this isn't the card for you. You need to be in the 8800's in cards to get that preformance. If you are wanting a card that will just run the latest games on normal settings without too many hickups and don't want to spend a fortune, then this is the card for you.

Overall Review: DFI Lanparty NF4 UT MOBO, AMD X2 3800+, 2 gigs ADATA Ram, 8600GT
