I Can Brag to my Friends . . . FINALLY!
Pros: ok, its not the hottest thing out there but its close enough for me considering my budget. taking this thing out of the box was like christmas at the first of feb. plus i love asus and newegg.
Cons: People can get irritated at the site of someone else's happiness.
Overall Review: I let my wife touch the heat pipes before installing. She wasnt impressed. Oh well.
Halfway Descent
Pros: This is a good card. It runs the desktop in KDE very well in Linux with cube effect, wobbly windows, exploding windows and every little effect you can throw at it. The pic and color is very clean and sharp , even with all 3d effects turned on. Installing this card brought my desktop to life.
Cons: The real reason i got this card is for open gl for digital content creation. I have to watch or manage my meshes and multries. If i get too carried away with scenery or mountains or figures , the card starts to bog down. (thats with all desktop effects turned off).
Overall Review: I know when i am being cheap and this time i was being real cheap. i have not tried this card in windows 7 yet. maybe the drivers are better over there but my guess is i need to get a better card for what i am doing. So far , the whole 'Quadro' graphics card is not paying off any better than a gaming card.
review from opensuse user
Pros: A great bargain for what I need. 8 cores for a low low price. Its hard not to give 5 eggs but I have my reasons.
Cons: The stock fan is my only gripe. It is loud but its not the loudness that gets you. I have had louder fans. Its the whining when under a heavy load.
Overall Review: cpu is housed in a corsair 330r case. Case has front and rear fan with good sound dampening. It was effective in keeping the cpu cool and noise to a minimal under mundane conditions. When rendering or processing large file the fan would kick in and the noise would begin. Threw in the arctic a30 and no noise during high work loads. Despite spending money for an aftermarket cooler, I would still by this processor again. Worth every cent, except maybe 5 for that cpu fan.
You Get What You Pay For
Pros: ordered 2 packs for my workstation. runs without any issues thus far
Cons: none
Overall Review: i love corsair but if i cant get what i want from them due to price or what ever, then pny is my next option as far as trust and reliability goes.
Good Motherboard
Pros: the motherboard is working great for me thus far. no serious issues with compatibility. im giving this product 5 stars for quality over bells and whistles as it does what it is meant to do. it works!
Cons: no audio and the video on this motherboard has a purpose of putting out an image but thats it. dont ask it to do anything else. in otherwrds, a graphics card is almost a must
Overall Review: im using this as a wrkstation cpu. not as an actual server. no real need for ecc mem etc , so my setup maybe a little different from others. Sigma Power Engine sp-535 PNY XLR 2gb 240 pin ddr2 800mhz qty4 intel yorkfield 2.66ghz lga 775 95w quad PNY quadro 380 yep, its under a tight budget! running open source suse 64bit (linux) until i get windows 7
Good Mobo Not So Good Layout
Pros: Its Asus, a brand i have come to trust maybe a little too much.
Cons: My eyes must have been covered in mud. did not see the potential problem with a large graphics card covering sata ports.
Overall Review: Well, live and learn. Features are great but not everything.
