a GOOD apevia product?!?!?
Pros: You can have them any color you want...as long as its black. Comes with plenty of case screws and standoffs and stuff. They are in one piece, unusual for most apevia products ive ever gotten. ;D
Cons: Its an apevia product. This means that through a unfortunate series of events a miniature nuclear reactor that was placed inside each screw will end up blowing my PC into bits. But seriously, no cons....they are screws and they work. DHL shipping (Newegg EggSaver or whatever) needs an overhaul. Not product related though.
Overall Review: nerd horror story time. Gather around children. Bought a new LGA775 mobo for a broken PC i received from a bro that had motherboard issues. recieved the mobo (among other things, like thermal paste) and realized the old mobo was broken because it had warped, because the case was missing standoffs. So i figured i had an old emachines sitting out in the garage, ill just rip some standoffs outta that. But emachines think its freaking hilarious to have standoffs welded onto their case (some were literally attached to the motherboard plate, while others were those little mounds) So one week in, ive got all the parts i need but i cant use them because im missing SCREWS. Naturally, or at least to me, im going insane because i dont get the privilege of new PCs every other year like some people do. Ive been living off a Liano laptop for a while. Anyway, i ordered these. Two weeks have passed now and i begin to wait for screws. So after initially being picked up in Memphis, TN (i reside in North Carolina) DHL decides decides to ship it to St Louis, MO, which is nearly 300 miles in the OPPOSITE DIRECTION. This takes a while. It then ships BACK TO MEMPHIS. IT THEN SHIPS TO ATLANTA. THEN finally towards me in North Carolina. I recieved it in what, 6 days? within the limit. However they could have had it to me in two days had they had a more efficient system of shpping. It was free shipping but seriously, that was incredibly frustrating. So i got the screws TWO WEEKS after i had the rest of the parts, a very long, frustrating, two weeks. I shouldnt have waited a week to order, however the shipping tracking only added insult to injury. LET ME BE CLEAR. I am NOT bashing DHL as a shipper. They got it to me on time. Im just saying that if they were a little more efficient they could seriously get a major retailier-consumer shipping system setup that would be much faster and cheaper than certain other shippers. and probably make them alot of money. Screws are great, mounted the new mobo as well as some drives and fans, its all good. Cant really say much more, they are simply screws.
Pros: Nice appearance. Features are nice; PLENTY of USB ports; i noticed an actual difference in audio quality when running my headphones through my USB mic (the board guaranteed consistent power to USB audio) Supports crossfire for when i get a second GTX 660 in the future. I can install the heatsink without feeling like im going to snap the board in half (cough cough intel push pins). FOR THE MOST PART worked really well.
Cons: The onboard audio was a dud. Never delivered sufficient volume and when used with non-powered devices, would cause terrible crackling. After hours of troubleshooting and, and back and forth across my ticket with MSI we came to the conclusion the board was defective. I tried every possible driver and even reinstalled windows. This motherboard truly has the world's brightest red LED under the audio boost plate. Whoever placed the CPU 8 pin connector where it is should be hit. Its nearly impossible to pull off without usage of an external tool because the tab you have to push is facing the mofset heatsink, meaning its impossible to get your fingers in that tiny gap. Not a big deal for most people, but when you have to remove your motherboard to you know, RMA it, it can be annoying.
Overall Review: I have no reason to give this a bad review because my audio was not working, as it was clearly a unique case. However I advise anyone buying this board to check your audio to ensure its working properly right away. Id wait until i got my replacement board to post the review, but there is barely any info on the internet right now about this board so i figured this would be more helpful.
Pros: -lasted almost a year so far (early september 2013) -Doesn't make too much noise -hasn't exploded and taken the rest of my PC with it
Cons: -doesn't cook bacon -not all of the cords are modular - my only real gripe but i knew that before i bought it.
Overall Review: Wait for a great deal. i got this new for $60 here on newegg after a $20 rebate.
Oh my gosh
Pros: Wide but slim, doesnt interfere with USB ports around it on the back of mobo. Speed is fantasically better than any cards in any of the (budget) laptops around me house. got it for $10 on sale. Doesnt use annoying extra software to connect, uses windows built in system.
Cons: It doesnt run crisis. It doesnt make me money. It doesnt cook waffles.
Overall Review: I got an old PC from a bro in need of a new motherboard. He took his old netgear PCI card out if it, so i needed a new wireless card, and i picked this up on sale around black friday for $10 dollars. Comes with a extension cable (which if you aren't in need of one, can be used to extend an iphone charger or something of that sort, presumably) and a driver disk. I noticed many others having problems with installation, but i had none. I might recommend ditching the included driver CD and downloading them from another PC from the TP-link website. Thats what i did. My internet speed is advertised as 8i think 12 megabits per second? Anyway with my laptop (an acer laptop with 6GB of ram and an A6-3400m) i get download speeds ranging from 300 KBPS to 800 KBPS, usually hanging around 4 to 5 hundred. Other laptops brought into my house and the netgear USB adapter on another desktop get similar speeds. However, this on my desktop gives a STEADY 1.2 MEGABYTES PER SECOND, sometimes ranging up to 1.5. I bought this with the expectation that it would be a simple replacement for most other wifi adapters/cards, but it exceeds my expectations. If you could get past problems others are having (perhaps try DLing from website) for any price this is a FANTASTIC deal, better then a 1-2 year old $50 netgear USB adapter, for less than half the price.
