Excellent choice for HTPC

SILVERSTONE Black Aluminum / Plastic Grandia GD09B ATX / SSI-CEB Media Center / HTPC Case
SILVERSTONE Black Aluminum / Plastic Grandia GD09B ATX / SSI-CEB Media Center / HTPC Case

Pros: + Fits right in as a component of a home entertainment station in the living room. + Accommodates both ATX or mATX form factor motherboards and full height expansion cards. + Outstanding cooling + Adequate space for drive installation, accommodating both 3.5" and 2.5" drives. + Case fan filters are literally a snap to remove and clean. + Solid build overall aided by the reinforcement bracket down the middle.

Cons: - Paint job on the top of the case exhibits fairly significant orange peel. Orange peel is when tiny bumps appear in the finish. This is usually resultant from improper painting technique. It's not good form for Silverstone to allow such a poor level of paint job on a case. I suppose they could claim it's a design choice, whatever. - Zero wire management what-so-ever. I was forced to use the space above the SDD for front panel and PSU wire storage rendering that fan mount point unusable. At best the air would be mostly blocked by the wires, at worst the wires would interfere with the fan blades. - The ODD cage is designed to support a HDD mounted under the ODD. That lower bracket portion for a HDD comes very close to the RAM and CPU heatsink. This necessitates lower-profile RAM sticks and a short heat sink for the CPU. Stock heatsinks are fine. Avoid most tower style coolers. The Arctic Alpine 64 Pro I used had maybe 1 mm of clearance between the fan shroud and the ODD/HDD bracket. - SSD mounted flush to the motherboard tray REQUIRES a SATA power connection that is straight, not at 90 degrees. See other thoughts for more detail.

Overall Review: I have yet to find the "perfect" HTPC enclosure. They all have some level of compromise. Silverstone has done a decent job minimizing the negatives of this form factor, especially in a case that allows use of a full ATX motherboard and standard size PSU and ODD. I used a Corsair CX500M modular PSU which turned out to be irrelevant since I ended up having to use all the wires. This was necessitated in part due to how Silverstone chose to layout some of the components. The SSD being flush mounted to the floor of the case REQUIRES a straight SATA power connection, but the Corsair PSU only has 90 degree SATA power connections. That said, due to how Crucial orients their SSDs, they would probably be the ideal choice. Something to keep in mind! I ended up having to use a molex-SATA adapter. I could have saved one PSU cable if I had chosen the PSU or SSD more carefully. The positioning of the HDD and ODD make it impossible to share a power line between the two devices. I had to snake a power and data line under the ODD, between the case intake fan and the CPU heatsink, then to the rear of the ODD. It was either that or snake it across the top of the GPU which would pin it against the case support bracket. If you plan to use a graphics card, I suggest avoiding those with PSU power connections that are perpendicular to the card. Get a card like a GTX 750 that doesn't require additional power or one that has the power connection in parallel with card. I used a PowerColor R9 270 Item#: N82E16814131545 and it worked wonderfully. I used a 4GB kit of G.Skill Ripjaws X Item#: N82E16820231427 and they just barely cleared the ODD/HDD bracket. However I would suggest something like Mushkin Stealth or Corsair Vengeance LP to ensure full clearance and afford some much needed extra space.

Silverstone SST-FP37B USB 3.0 USB 3.0 Card Reader, Support SDXC Format with Extra Silver Front Panel (Black)

Pros: + solidly built + fast data transfers

Cons: - suddenly caused system to not post after 6 months of use

Overall Review: Crazy failure caused symptoms that looked like a bad motherboard, bad power supply and it all goes back to this thing. I plug it in, no POST. I unplug it, POST.

Not worth the money

Homall Gaming Chair Office Computer Chair Racing Desk Chair Ergonomic High Back Adjustable Swivel Chair PU Leather Executive Chair for Adults with Flip Up Padded Arms (Red)
Homall Gaming Chair Office Computer Chair Racing Desk Chair Ergonomic High Back Adjustable Swivel Chair PU Leather Executive Chair for Adults with Flip Up Padded Arms (Red)

Pros: * it was cheap * I like red, and it's red

Cons: * sub-par construction * images represent 3 years of wear with a few hours of daily use * images cannot show how much the seat wiggles on the post * The hex bolt for the arms loosen ALL the time requiring tightening or they will literally fall off the chair * the post leaks oil and the seat drops to the bottom position * the seat and arm padding were thing to begin with but over time have collapsed into near non-existence

Overall Review: I was only somewhat disappointed with this chair when it was new considering I paid roughly 1/4 of it currently sells for. At current prices I would have returned it in a heartbeat. Your $$ is better spent elsewhere, like GTRacing.

You get what you pay for, which isn't much

Pros: - Looks sharp - Low price

Cons: - Sloppy is the best description I have for this thing. There is a good 3" of forward-backward play when the recline is LOCKED. There is a good 2" of side-to-side play when sitting in the chair. - Flimsy construction. The base of the chair is distinctly not solid. It likes to list to the rear-left a bit. - Padding? You don't need no stinking padding! The padding for your bottom is nearly non-existant. There's maybe a 1/4" of padding under my sit-bones. - IO'm 5'8" tall and the arm rests are about 4" too high to be functional. I leave them up at all times.

Overall Review: I've owned this chair for 10 months. I rarely used it up until COVID-19 and work from home kicked in. Now I'm in it about 6 hours a day for the last 2 months. I'm done. My rump and back are sore after just a couple of hours sitting in this pretty but mostly useless lump of plastic, foam and leather.

Worked great, until it didn't

ASRock 990FX Extreme6 AM3+ Northbridge: AMD 990FX Southbridge: AMD SB950 USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard

Pros: + feature set + price + LAYOUT + appearance + features

Cons: - reliability

Overall Review: I purchased this motherboard as an upgrade for my son when a friend gave me a Cooler Master HAF X case. I was very pleased with this board until 3 weeks ago when it simply failed with little warning. This mobo resided in the HAF X case running a stock clocked FX 6300 CPU. Powered by a Corsair HX 750 PSU, and used Corsair Ballistix Tracer RAM and Crucial M500 SSD. It spent most of its life playing Minecraft and Roblox. Needless to say it was a really easy existence! Then one day, out of the blue, our less than 3 year old motherboard simply died. No warning. No sign or hints as to why it gave up the ghost. It's just dead.

HORRIBLE software

MyKronoz ZeFit
MyKronoz ZeFit

Pros: + Attractive display + Comfortable to wear, even on larger wrists like mine + PC and Mac software; so no smart phone required

Cons: - Software is a fail on so many levels - Reported battery life of 4-ish days - Birthday is configured DAY / month / year which is fine in Europe but this isn't Europe and it can't be changed so be mindful on how you enter your information.

Overall Review: I have a Blackberry so as per the norm the device does not support my phone. After 30 minutes charging via USB I tried to setup the device using the family iPad Air but it was a fail. Why? Wish I could say but during the REQUIRED account setup I received the oh so descriptive error message: "Failed". After numerous attempts to not fail by changing username, password configuration, etc I gave up with the iPad. The MyKronoz website vague and sparse help pages suggested I try the PC software. I downloaded the .zip file, unpacked it and installed the software. Computer reboot required, fine. Launch the program, plug in the band via USB and try to setup an account. Good news, no "Failed" error message. Bad news, all that it would do is state "Processing" for about 3 seconds then nothing. No screen progression, no error message, no nothing. I let the band charge for 2 hours, and retried the account setup. Whoa, I got progressing then advancement. I guess the band needed to be fully charged? So I login, configure the band and the final pane of the process it sends me back to the login screen. Fine, it did automatically update the band firmware. The login screen remembers my email address and password, great. Error window that states, "This band is connected to another account." What? So I disconnect the band, plug it back in and wait for about 20 minutes. I try to login again and viola, I'm in and it syncs. I'm going to use this band for the next few days and see how it pans out. At this point, I'm pretty sure I'll be returning it.

Horrible return policy

I tried to cancel my order of a Castle ESC / motor combo but it had shipped that very day. The CSR on the phone told me once it arrived, check the fitment and if the ESC was in fact too tall I could return it. "Just call for an RMA number." she said. So when it didn't fit, and I called I was told by a different CSR that I would be docked a 50% restocking fee. The first CSR made no mention of this fee. When I pressed them insisting that I not be charged such an exorbitant amount because I was only doing as I was told by their CSR he said, "Sorry, we have to follow that 50% restocking fee policy." So, congratulations HRP, you secured your $150 single item sale. I guess you never heard the phrase save a penny to loose a dollar? You have lost all my future business.

I might pass on these guys

They are based in China as you may have figured out by now. I ordered on May 6 and took delivery (in TX) on May 19. That's one day shy of a full 2 weeks. Not bad considering it's from China! They packaged the R/C remote controller in a plastic bag. Yep, that's it. A plastic bag. The box arrived battered and squished. I haven't put batteries in yet to see if it works but somehow it appears to be in good physical shape. I'm not sure I'd trust my money (and time) buying product from a vendor who has such a lackadaisical attitude toward packaging their products.

Beware the little tage

The quality of the ring appears good however there is a little piece of fine print that states the return policy is voided if the plastic size sticker/tag is removed. Well the very first thing I did to try on the ring was remove said tag. When I realized it didn't fit, it was too late. There should be a larger, more visible statement about this sticker/tag. Very disappointed that I am now stuck with a ring which I'll never wear because of some silly tag
