Very Pleased

Hitachi GST Deskstar P7K500 0A35389 160GB 7200 RPM 8MB Cache IDE Ultra ATA133 / ATA-7 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive
Hitachi GST Deskstar P7K500 0A35389 160GB 7200 RPM 8MB Cache IDE Ultra ATA133 / ATA-7 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: Surprisingly fast. The fastest ATA HDD I've ever had the privilege of using. Boot times are almost as good as the modern SATA II HDD in my main computer. Inexpensive, had a motherboard that actually supported ATA133, decided I would take advantage of it.

Cons: None so far.

Overall Review: Replaced a dead Maxtor 120GB HDD in my old rig. Keep in mind its OEM. That means no cables, no software, just the HDD in an ESD bag in bubble wrap.

Problematic

Microsoft Windows XP Home SP3 for System Builders
Microsoft Windows XP Home SP3 for System Builders

Pros: It's Windows, and not Vista. had no need for Vista's bells and whistles or its slowness, so stuck with XP.

Cons: It's Windows. this disk also had problems with installation. FORMAT hung at 27% several times until I just used Gparted to format the HDD and then installation went smoothly. After that, it had still more problems, as the OS would not boot after installation. I popped in the disk and ran the Kernel debugger, and so far everything has been working fine- a bit nervous about the install now though.

Overall Review: If you're not gaming, this thing still isn't worth the $90. Just get Ubuntu, its free and works better for non-gaming applications.

What they said.

Nippon Labs Black 6 ft. USB cable A/male to B/male 6ft Model USB-6-AB-BK 6 feet
Nippon Labs Black 6 ft. USB cable A/male to B/male 6ft Model USB-6-AB-BK 6 feet

Pros: Like everyone else said... came free with my Xiggy Dark Knight. Works, fast, replaced a shorter cable that was being stretched to the limit... for free, what more is there to want?

Cons: nope.

Overall Review: They could have discounted the value of the cable of the price... but w/e.

Works fine.

Link Depot 18" ATA133 UV Cable 3-Connector Model UV-ATA18-RD-3
Link Depot 18" ATA133 UV Cable 3-Connector Model UV-ATA18-RD-3

Pros: It works, looks better and doesn't block airflow like a ribbon cable does.

Cons: it was pink. definitely pink... not red. The rubber pieces protecting the wires leading up to the connector also gradually slide down. Nothing a zip tie around the base of the piece didn't fix though. The pressure stops it from sliding down.

Overall Review: Shame it was pink... looks funny when the computer isn't on and lit up red.

Works.

Link Depot Model UV-ATA12-BK-2 12" Cable
Link Depot Model UV-ATA12-BK-2 12" Cable

Pros: Supports ATA133, looks good and improves airflow. All I was asking for.

Cons: The rubber piece the protects the wires leading to the connector tends to slide down over time. Fixed it by putting a zip tie around the base of it very tight. The pressure stops ot from sliding down.

Overall Review: No reason to get ribbon cables nowadays. These are worth the few bucks as long as you bundle it with some other things to save on shipping.

It works

Link Depot 18" Floppy Round Cable Model 1UV-FLP18-RD
Link Depot 18" Floppy Round Cable Model 1UV-FLP18-RD

Pros: It works just fine. Improves airflow and looks much better than a ribbon cable.

Cons: Its pink. Quite pink. Not red at all. Also, the ends of the cables that protect the area where it goes from the cable to the connector tends to slip down gradually- I fixed it by tying a zip tie around the piece really tight- the pressure keeps it from sliding down.

Overall Review: It works, it just bothered me that it was pink.
