WD 2TB

Pros: WD; huge: reasonably fast; low power, cool & quiet despite 4 platters
Cons: 6.5 hours to format in windows; early adopter price
Overall Review: brilliantly positioned in market by WD; it is a reasonably fast STORAGE drive; my testing indicated about 74 MB/s over a large postion of the drive using a blend of large and small files and faster drives to focus the speeds (R/W) of this drive; the drive is cool & quiet in my hand at load; i almost never recommend passive cooling however this drive ( and the velo raptors and the single platter seagate 500GB) may qualify; i have 30 WD drives and test them all in my hand using a similar methodology and this new model seems in keeping with WD market coverage; this drive is meant to be a STORAGE drive, not an OS drive; it appears it might be well suited for an external enclosure as i would only recommend cool running drives there ( those enclosures usually have awful cooling designs ) ; too early to comment on reliability but mine passed infant mortality period; note seagate apparently thinks it some kind of success announcing they have a competing model 6 mos from now !!
INOI DW567 Terrible product

Pros: none
Cons: RMA the first as dead; second died after very little use ; about 2 months; neve buy anything again from the manufacturer
Overall Review: never buy anything again from the manufacturer
gpsmap 62s

Pros: high build quality; high function

Overall Review: could have added a couple aa batteries
F3 1 TB

Pros: a researched buy; waited thru the prod issues with F1 until sammy finally got it right; this 2 platter drive runs fast, cool & quiet; transferring from ahigh speed raid 0 array i experienced average 100MB (write) over 90% of the drive capacity; runs cool to the touch under idle; warm under load; bit-tech review is spot on; as a large, non OS drive , this drive is a fantastic value; i have 4 now & 2 in a raid 0 array off P5Q deluxe marvell chip; quite possible i will put all 4 in raid 10 with hardware raid areca; note win 7 raid drivers are in general not out yet
Cons: none
Overall Review: this drive a freak in terms of high value; only spinning drive i can see that i might want more, money aside, is the 2 TB WD black (300USD)
solo 11" TCA511-4

Pros: i have and use this case quite a bit; travel internationally incl; fine case; good value; with the asus EEE 1000HE netbook it fits great; the power supply/cord will bulk it a little but still fits fine; travel friendly is dependent on the specific security point; dont count on that; build quality is good and is durable; good top handle & decent (wide enough & padded) shoulder strap
Cons: none
Overall Review: fine netbook carrier
TCA511-4; fits EEE1000HE

Pros: good value; TSA checkfast; good build quality; well designed; manly appearance and feel
Cons: didnt get from egg as was sold out for quite a while thru my buying period
Overall Review: fits the EEE 1000HE which is what i bought it for ; the ac charger fits in the case but not in the same compartment; pretty full with those 2 components in it; anything else will make the handle nearly unusable; retailer with a couple b's in name says this is selling really well; i have 2 EEE1000HEs ( they are great) and i might get another of these cases for my wife's unit
