Newegg Fail

Hitachi GST 0A38016 1TB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive
Hitachi GST 0A38016 1TB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: Very Quiet, Pretty fast and runs cooler than my WD or Seagate drives.

Cons: None so far. See other thoughts.

Overall Review: I purchased 2 Drives. 1 drive good 1 drive DOA. Newegg Packing FAIL. No bubble wrap on either of THE DRIVES. I felt and heard them sliding around. The drive that was DOA had the static bag torn because of sliding around. I ran the other drive for 38 hrs. of testing. It was perfect. no bad blocks. NOT HAPPY because this is recurring theme with Newegg...

Review of MSI Gaming 970 Gaming AM3+/AM3 AMD 970

MSI Gaming 970 Gaming AM3+/AM3 AMD 970 and SB950 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard
MSI Gaming 970 Gaming AM3+/AM3 AMD 970 and SB950 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard

Pros: Nice looking Motherboard, lots of sata ports and USB 3.0 ports. I really like the lights on the Motherboard. Nice heat sinks.

Cons: Bad out of Box

Overall Review: I needed this for an upgrade to a overworked and under powered home media server but the MSI MoBo was bad out of box. I could not get POST. I swapped everything memory, graphics card and power supply. The only thing I could not swap the AMD FX-8300 CPU. I could not even get a beep when trying to boot without memory plugged in. The only thing I got were the pretty lights on the Motherboard and Oh ya the case fans worked. I was going to try to get a quick replacement but newegg was sold out. I decided on a different manufacturer and everything worked great. NEWEGG I am not entirely sure that the MSI Motherboard was new. When I opened the box the SATA cables were on top of the static bag containing the motherboard. The other "stuff" was in the correct place.,,, Just a thought TT

Did not work well for me

Cooler Master Seidon 240M - All-In-One CPU Liquid Water Cooling System with 240mm Radiator and 2 Fans
Cooler Master Seidon 240M - All-In-One CPU Liquid Water Cooling System with 240mm Radiator and 2 Fans

Pros: The pump is quiet and installation isn't that bad if I figured it out.

Cons: Instructions simply suck - But is not bad. The hose needed to be 2 inches longer. They are really stiff. Be Very Very care full of the radiator. The fins are fragile. After about 2 or so months one of the fans started to make a rattling noise (bad bearing). I removed the whole thing and but a ZALMAN CPU cooler in. Not much of a difference according to core temp.

Overall Review: I might re-install later but not sure. I was thinking of seeking an RMA because something must be wrong but not sure since it is my first try at water cooling.

AMD = Smiles

AMD FX-8350 Black Edition Vishera 8-Core 4.0 GHz (4.2 GHz Turbo) Socket AM3+ 125W FD8350FRHKBOX Desktop Processor

Pros: This Thing is a Great. It Does everything I tell it to do and SMILES at me. I am happy with AMD. I am sure you have heard this before but simply put "AMD is the best bang for the buck".

Cons: I have no cons as of this writing so far.

Overall Review: The FX-8350 will not disappoint you it runs games, apps, and is easily OC . It's hard to go wrong with the price and power of this CPU.

Woork well so far

TOSHIBA PH2050U-1I54 500GB 5400 RPM 8MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 2.5" Internal Notebook Hard Drive Retail Kit
TOSHIBA PH2050U-1I54 500GB 5400 RPM 8MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 2.5" Internal Notebook Hard Drive Retail Kit

Pros: It's Installed in my HP laptop. I needed to downgrade to win 7 to stay compatible with my work but I wanted to keep the win 8 drive for ease of later upgrade. It's not a speed demon but is quiet. I hope it is a work horse.

Cons: Not really a con but Slower than I expected.

Overall Review: Nothing it works as advertised.

an Older Zephyr 750

hec Zephyr MX 750 750W Peak Output ATX12V V2.3 / EPS12V V2.91 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Nice looking and quiet, lots of cables and connectors and none are too short for full size cases.

Cons: Cheap rear fan.

Overall Review: I purchased this unit a few years ago. The 1st one was defective and received a replacement that I never used. Well 6 months ago I built a new system and used this power supply in the build. A couple weeks ago I noticed a significant temp increase in my case. The rear fan died -- I tested it; it was a cheap 80 mm slim sleeve bearing fan. Sleeve bearing fans are Cheap and do not last long. I replaced it with a high quality ball bearing fan and all is well. I hope HEC has changed the design and the quality of their components since I purchased this unit. I believe it would of eventually over heated and died. s/n: HO709150407 OF Power supply
