StarTech SATDOCK22RE

StarTech.com SATDOCK22RE 2.5" & 3.5" Black SATA II Standalone Hard Drive Duplicator Dock
StarTech.com SATDOCK22RE 2.5" & 3.5" Black SATA II Standalone Hard Drive Duplicator Dock

Pros: Will copy a drive with nothing but a power connection! (WD80GB->WD80GB = 27 minutes) I use it as a standalone device for drive copy only.

Cons: Don't expect to use the e-sata connection unless you have a card that supports FIS-based switching with Port Multipliers. It really should say something about this in the details.

Overall Review: Works fine as a PC dock under USB 2.0 but really slow compared to a e-sata dock.

Locks up every day now

Logitech Alert 750e Outdoor Master Security System with Night Vision (961-000337)
Logitech Alert 750e Outdoor Master Security System with Night Vision (961-000337)

Pros: Iphone app is very cool. Pictures are clear and software is easy to navigate. Really no learning curve to use the system.

Cons: Camera disappears every day and needs to be unplugged and plugged back in to see again. Lost a lot of faith in the system and don't trust it to protect my property anymore. Previous Logitech camera system worked fine on same lines.

Overall Review: When it works its great. Too bad it doesn't work anymore.

Pretty slick for external drive

Link Depot ESATA-ESATA-UP 1.64 ft. (0.50m) USB Shared ESATA Cable for 2.5" SATA HD
Link Depot ESATA-ESATA-UP 1.64 ft. (0.50m) USB Shared ESATA Cable for 2.5" SATA HD

Pros: Lets me use a bare 2.5 SATA drive, for external storage, with my laptop. No power supply needed! I thought the eSATA/USB plug on the new laptop was weird - now I am a believer!

Cons: None

Overall Review: Works great - wouldn't change a thing.

Works great- very stable

Zoom 5715-02-00AG ADSL Modem 24Mbps Downstream, 1Mbps Upstream Ethernet Port
Zoom 5715-02-00AG ADSL Modem 24Mbps Downstream, 1Mbps Upstream Ethernet Port

Pros: It configured itself with no problems. Syncs up quick and holds it better than my old Zoom X6 router. Runs warm to the touch as expected. Should be no reason to log into it as I did for curiosity. Zooms are very reliable and can take hits during thunderstorms.

Cons: None

Overall Review: Just hook it up to your DSL line and your router. Give it some time to configure and reboot. If your provider uses MAC binding, as mine does, remember to clone your old MAC address if using a new router or ask them to do a DHCP clear on your line.

Now I can hotswap eSATA!!

Koutech IO-PESA233 PCI Express x1 SATA III (6.0Gb/s) Dual Channel Controller Card
Koutech IO-PESA233 PCI Express x1 SATA III (6.0Gb/s) Dual Channel Controller Card

Pros: With this card I can now HOT SWAP my eSATA drives. I have a dual dock and with this card I can use two drives via eSATA. With the motherboard eSATA the dual dock was useless unless using USB2.0.

Cons: None so far

Overall Review: I bought this for use with a STARTECH STARDOCK22RE. The 22RE is not only a dual dock but can copy hard drives. Without this card it was useless as a eSATA dock.

Works great with right card!

StarTech.com SATDOCK22RE 2.5" & 3.5" Black SATA II Standalone Hard Drive Duplicator Dock

Pros: With the right controller this thing rocks! I can hot swap drives via eSATA. It took 27 minutes to do a sector by sector copy of a WD80GB drive to another WD80GB. It can work as a stand alone copier also.

Cons: Doesn't come with card that supports port multiplier as most motherboard chipsets don't have this feature.

Overall Review: The Koutech IO-PESA233 PCI Express x1 SATA 6.0Gb/s Controller Card works perfect with this dock.
