Corsair Obsidian Series 800D CC800DW Black Aluminum / Steel ATX Full Tower Computer Case
Corsair Obsidian Series 800D CC800DW Black Aluminum / Steel ATX Full Tower Computer Case

Pros: I'm a computer tech by trade and have been in the computer industry since 1980. I've seen junk and I have seen quality, and this is a beast... well, most of it. It is big, and it is heavy - if you are surprised by this when you receive it then you should have done your homework better. I liked the room, depth, and cable management, all of these were nice quality additions to most other cases. The thing looks impressive in its simplicity, no cheap plastic chrome or obnoxious styling that you will be embarrassed about a few years down the road. This is a workhorse and should suit any configuration. I purchased a large CPU fan by Zalman and this case easily handled the mass. The cable routing feature is sweet as well as the last thing I want to see is a rainbow of cables through the side window. In case anyone is wondering: this does have USB 3. The option for additional fans is nice, especially along the top. This is pretty much everything that NewEgg’s video touted about the

Cons: My biggest complaint came as soon as I unpacked it. As with some other complaints on here, I found the front access door lacking in quality and the hinges were made with small plastic parts. My door latch arrived broken, but this is not a too big of a strike as I needed to reverse the door operation anyway for a left hand swing. But on the original configuration the door latch would not open and stayed pushed in. The plastic hinge/spring assembly promptly fell apart when I released the hasp to reverse the door as well. I was able to get it back together but the only thing holding the hinge/spring assy together is the frame itself. If anyone were to attempt to reverse the door opening again they will find themselves with parts on the floor. From what I can see the right side square hole is missing whatever holds the door it be locked in place. No broken parts in the bottom of the box - just plain missing. For that I dock one egg (considering the pricetag).

Overall Review: My original choices were the Cooler Master HAF and the Antek DF85 until I found this case. This is heavy duty construction overall and has many nice design features, but they failed on the door hinge assy. I may have to mill a replacement part as I don't see such a tiny plastic part lasting more than a few openings. With that said, I am still satisfied with what I bought.

Received DOA - RMA rejected and returned trashed

ASUS MAXIMUS IV EXTREME (REV 3.0) LGA 1155 Intel P67 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 Extended ATX Intel Motherboard
ASUS MAXIMUS IV EXTREME (REV 3.0) LGA 1155 Intel P67 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 Extended ATX Intel Motherboard

Pros: Asus name - high expectations. Asus used in the past on many systems for myself and for clients.

Cons: DOA, bad out of the box. Simple, point blank issue. Failures noted on LED readout targeted bus issues that were not uncommon for this board. Asus can have issues, but I like their overall stance. Item was RMA'd and ended up being refused on replacement. I just received back the board today and saw why. They claimed there were bent pins and potting compound on the board. Of course there was potting compound.... I had tried a CPU on it, so apparently I missed some on the exterior of the socket bracket. But when I got the board back I saw ugly, ugly damage to the socket pins, like something was dropped on the socket. It was clearly not there when I sent it in as there would be no way a CPU would power up at all in this. The board was sent in with the socket cover intact, so either someone had no clue how to remove the cover, or they dropped a tool on the pin layout. This was not the case when it was sent it. I have a $320 boat anchor now.

Overall Review: I build a lot of systems, and have ordered from New Egg for many, many years, typically spending at least a thousand dollars annually. This particular order was over $1600 and I was treated like a thug when there was an issue. I am greatly disappointed in whatever polices or subcontractor NewEgg is now using to handle RMAs but this was not the company that I had grown to trust and to recommend to my customers. Newegg – I am just one person but I see from other reviews that I am not alone. I hope your higher-ups will learn from the loss of customers before things get too disappointing. Refusing a replacement is one thing, but returning an item that was clearly abused on your end is unacceptable.

Better than the Rosewill

AFT XM-28U BLACK 28-in-1 USB 2.0 Internal Card Reader
AFT XM-28U BLACK 28-in-1 USB 2.0 Internal Card Reader

Pros: Purchased this as a replacement for a Rosewill RCR-FD200 that I bought here about 6 months ago. I should of gotten this one in the first place. Reads the larger cards without a flaw. I also purchased a 8GB Kingston SD card with this and I discovered it can't be read in my old external.

Cons: No instructions or driver CD. Not that it's an issue as I am installing it on systems with XP or higher, but I could see this to be a problem for the novice. Needs 2 USB ports on a motherboard which may also be an issue for cheaper systems. The SD card slot is a bit tight when inserting media. I guess that's better than too loose! Don't get me wrong on this review as I listed more cons than pros. I build a lot of systems and do upgrades for people. So far I am very happy with this purchase. It was a bit more expensive than some of the others, but you get what you pay for and this is well built.

Overall Review: I was even running it as an external unit for a little while as the item is fully enclosed.

No complaints so far

XFX GeForce GTX 260 896MB GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 SLI Support Video Card GX260NADDU

Pros: I've been running an array of games such as FarCry2 and Bioshock at full tilt without a glitch. I also use to to drive 2 monitors (though the games only plays on one) and that has not affected the performance either. I'm happy with this purchase.

Cons: Long board. It was a really, really tight squeeze in the Cooler Master case I bought from NewEgg.

Rosewill RCR-FD200 All-in-one USB 2.0 Black 3.5" Card Reader with 1.44MB Floppy Drive
Rosewill RCR-FD200 All-in-one USB 2.0 Black 3.5" Card Reader with 1.44MB Floppy Drive

Pros: The color matches my new black case.

Cons: XP errors, red light errors, cheaply made.

Overall Review: The device gave me red light errors right out of the box. It's not worth the hassles of doing a RA so I'll just ended up throw this puppy out. The cards read but the unit gives a red LED error light at all times. I'm running a new PC on XP SP3. I don't like the shared slots for SD and SM cards. I'm not too picky but I have to say this is junk. If you are tossed between this an alternative I would suggest trying another brand. It reads floppys and mediacards but the error readings rates it down to just 2 stars. Nobad nerd stuff here, just lain reviews.

Pros: Typical XP install... the machine saw it and installed the driver as required. No brainer there.

Cons: I bought this in Sept for a birthday present in November. It was installed in the PC and it cuts DVDs but not CDs. It won't even read a CD. Bad out of the box!

Overall Review: My bad for waiting too long to install as now it's out of warranty. I've tried 3 different brands of CDs and none work. I've been happy with my other Sony drives so I still give this 2 stars.
