GIGABYTE GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Founders Edition

GIGABYTE GeForce GTX 1080 Ti FE 11GB GDDR5X PCI Express 3.0 ATX Video Card GV-N108TD5X-B
GIGABYTE GeForce GTX 1080 Ti FE 11GB GDDR5X PCI Express 3.0 ATX Video Card GV-N108TD5X-B

Pros: Card is absolutely amazing, and will run just about anything you throw at it 100+ fps at 1440p at max settings (tested with COH2, Metro Lastlight Redux, BF1, DOOM). The only game I've seen so far that you may want to dial the settings back on would be Ghost Recon Wildlands. At max settings on 1440p, i was getting about 65 fps average. Dialed everything to high and now getting an average framerate of 110. Both the game and the card are new, I would expect that framerate to increase as the video drivers / game become more optimized.

Cons: The reference fan can be a bit loud under load, especially if you run a more aggressive custom fan profile.

Overall Review: Looks like they got rid of the DVI port on this iteration of gpu, which I'm ok with since you need to use display port to achieve higher than 60fps via 1440p anyways. They do include a display port to dvi adapter with the card for those that need it. Removing the DVI port means it can use the entire top portion to vent hot air and should flow more efficiently than other reference cards. This GPU has good overclocking potential - i was able to up the gpu and memory clock settings +100 without any issue and can probably go higher. I would recommend using EVGA Precision X if you want to pursue overclocking, and I would use it to create a more aggressive fan profile as the stock settings let the gpu run pretty warm under load.

Pros: Very good card. Own two of these and use them in SLI in my new gaming rig. Recommend using EVGA PrecisionX or MSI Afterburner to unlock the full potential of these cards.I find the ACX cooler installed on these cards to be sufficient, although they do get somewhat loud once the fans go past 65% speed. Metro Last Light is one of the more graphically demanding games I know of, and runs like a dream with two of these cards in SLI. getting 60fps during most part with completely maxed out graphics settings on a 1080p monitor. There were some parts in the game where the framerate dropped to 40fps, but that was only during 1 or 2 parts in the entire game. You will probably want to customize the automatic fan speed settings to be more agressive to keep GPU temperatures down using either Precision X or MSI afterburner. With custom fan speed settings and running Metro LL, the hottest my top card has ever got to was 71c at 70% fan speed, and the bottom card was 64c at 70% fan speed. GPU load during these tests were at 90-95% out of 100 according to GPUZ, and memory usage peaked out at 2950 MB out of 4096.

Cons: I wish the cards included a backplate by default.

Overall Review: People were mentioning a coil whine noise with these cards, I purchased two of them the very day they were available from newegg and have not seen this issue. Perhaps i got lucky with two different cards?
