So far So good.
Pros: Easy set up. Good sound. Inexpensive WiFi dongle. Easy DLNA setup. I opened it up as soon as I got home from work. Read through the CD Instruction manual, and set it up in line with the instructions. Cool as a breeze and no problem. I bought the option WiFi dongle and set it up as well as my DLNA connection. It was all a breeze.
Cons: Small problem with speaker calibration. I ran the Full calibration program, which was also easy. It went off without a hitch, until it got to my Surround Back speakers. It went to Surround Back right, and sounded fine. Then, while the Receiver was still supposedly calibrating my SB-R, sound came out of my Surround Back left. The Calibration ended there with the receiver saying "Speaker Detect Error". I tried it 2 more times and still the same thing. The speakers are connected correctly, so I don't know what the deal is. I'm hoping a firmware upgrade will solve this problem.
Overall Review: Other than that, the system works great so far. I got it Wednesday evening, and this is Friday morning, so I'm still going to go through more options and see how good I can get the surround sound to sound. But so far, I'm very impressed.
Not a great drive
Pros: Quiet, lightweight, inexpensive
Cons: Slow
Overall Review: This drive replaced my 80GB EIDE drive that I've owned since 2003. My bootup time is now ATROCIOUS compared to the bootup time with the EIDE. Drive seems to move slow for no real reason: Fresh install of Win7, Office2k10, Norton Security, and very little else. That's the only real problem with it. I will say that it seems to keep the OS moving better than the old drive, ie- if an IE window hangs, everything else on my desktop will still respond, even other windows of IE. I think with my last drive, a program hang could hang the whole desktop session. I'll give it that, but other than that, I'm kinda disappointed with this drive. Especially for it to be an SSD SATA II. I expected much faster access out of this thing.
Great Computer
Pros: Lightweight, Fast, great performance, WLAN, Fingerprint security
Cons: Very low sound, no number pad, touchpad can take some getting used to.
Overall Review: This was a great computer. I say WAS because mine was recently stolen >:^( I had no complaints with it, except the low sound. I'd want to plug in a good set of peripheral speakers or something whenever streaming video from my media server. Touchpad took some getting used to, but other than that, I had no complaints other than the minor upgrades I could have sought out: Blu-ray (that's about it). Great piece of equipment. Just don't drop it!!! The new aluminum shells dent quickly.
Good System
Pros: Great system, sleek look, discreet satellite speakers.
Cons: Bass not deep enough, longer cords on front speakers
Overall Review: Love the system; it has a pretty clear sound. I love the stylish and discreet look of the speakers. My only nitpick at the moment is that the bass just does not feel deep enough. I had a $40 generic surround system given to me as a gift from Dollar General, and you would be surprised how good that little system sounded; it was unreal. Especially the bass. I feel like this system's bass doesn't get anywhere near as deep. It could be the receiver (Onkyo TX-NR709), or maybe I just need to adjust the settings more. But that, and the short cable length of the front speakers, are my only two complaints. Great system otherwise.
Follow-up
Pros: Great system. Good sound. No setbacks or malfunctions yet.
Cons: Nothing to speak of.
Overall Review: Following up on my previous post: Downloaded and installed the firmware upgrade without a hitch. Re-ran the speaker calibration system and it went through with no malfunctions. Love the system. I could use some deeper bass, but I don't know if that's the system or my speakers. Great system.
