Stable, fast, everything you could want!

CORSAIR XMS2 2GB (2 x 1GB) DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model TWIN2X2048-6400PRO
CORSAIR XMS2 2GB (2 x 1GB) DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model TWIN2X2048-6400PRO

Pros: Very stable, even overclocked at 7200. I ran several memory benchmarks, not one error, even with a 12 hour burn in of the windows memory tester. Not one memory error "blue screen of death" in the year I have had this system. Neat LEDs seem to pulse as if alive like a heart beat. They seemingly get excited when loading games or playing music due to the bursts of I/O data. Cool to the touch while in operation overclocked(I know, not the best practice to touch system components while energized). Durable solid construction, probably could survive several drops from 5 feet on carpet, although that would be extreme abuse.

Cons: None that I have found. I have yet to see them fail once.

Overall Review: Nice heat spreaders, a little on the thick side. Hard metal shell. Heavy for RAM, but desktops aren't light.

Interesting, but not incredible!

Hogood HCOF-11006 Special Aroma, 1lb Bag, coffee (Beans)
Hogood HCOF-11006 Special Aroma, 1lb Bag, coffee (Beans)

Pros: Very smart marketing technique. Innovative and very capitalist! Maybe there is hope for China to adopt an open business model. What better way than to market coffee products through a die hard computer related sales site? Received a sample along with an order of completely unrelated computer parts. Hey, free coffee I can always use that.

Cons: Expensive and not any better than Folgers. Average, but not bad either. Not worth the price, Starbucks is way cheaper and offers a more diverse and complex flavor.

Overall Review: "My taste You know" Made in China. Distributed through Rosewill. Grown in Yunnan province. Was worried to drink it though after the whole lead based paint deal, has FDA passed approval on the safety of this food item?

Great Adapter/Great Tech Support

LSI MegaRAID SATA / SAS 9260-4i 6Gb/s PCI-Express 2.0 w/ 512MB Onboard Memory RAID Controller Card, Single--Avago Technologies
LSI MegaRAID SATA / SAS 9260-4i 6Gb/s PCI-Express 2.0 w/ 512MB Onboard Memory RAID Controller Card, Single--Avago Technologies

Pros: Supports Virtual Drives(Very, very important if you want to present a large disk to and install Windows). Very fast, the Cache is a-plenty(512 MB, double the cache that my hard drives have). It also supports SSD and has optimization features for those, for future expansion. It also supports SAS extenders fr expanding out your array. The optional BBU I bought separably is great, and offers additional performance bonuses due to write back. This card is actually sitting in a spare slot in my Nvidia 780i triple SLI motherboard. Bought that way back in the day when I saw that PCIe 2.0 would be an excepted and common standard for add-on cards; I was right. It now serves as the platform for my WHS11 file server. The LSI Megaraid monitoring tool is usefull as well for checking up on the cntroller/BBU healthOh and when I called LSI for help on setting it up, I got a person instantly, none of that stupid call routing stuff, just an honest, nice and knowledgeable staff member. Glad I bought LSI!

Cons: The card does take a while to initialize the disk array, but part of that is that it is spinning the drives up gently, and checking the health of the array. This is normal for all servers equipped with RAID adapters and is not dependent on the host machine hardware, nor component disk specifications.

Overall Review: Originally I tried software raid, I wanted to RAID 10. Didn't work. I bought four Hitachi HDS723020BLA642 2 TB hard drives back in the days before the flooding in Taiwan, which left a 4 GB partition after RAID 10. Only one problem Linux, and Windows does not play well with non EFI/UEFI motherboard when doing software RAID on large disks. What I did was get this card set up a 4 TB raid and then broke that down into a 200 GB Virtual drive for Windows Home Server 2011, so it could install(meet the 160 GB minimum and still be NTFS) and the rest was a seperate partition formatted with a GPT file system. NTFS only supports one 2 TB maximum partition per disk, the rest goes to waste as unpartitionable space. A NTFS partition which Windows has to be installed on cannot reside on the same "disk" that has a partition for GPT(which can be partitioned to zettabytes). The Virtual disk feature allowed me to cut the singular RAID 10 array into two usable pieces, while not wasting space on the array

Awesome network adapter!

Intel EXPI9402PTBLK Two Gigabit Copper Server Connections 10/100/1000Mbps PCI-Express 2 x RJ45
Intel EXPI9402PTBLK Two Gigabit Copper Server Connections 10/100/1000Mbps PCI-Express 2 x RJ45

Pros: Reliable, link aggregation(channel bonding), TCP segmentation offloading, jumbo frame support, low latency and high reliability. I have a pair of these and I actually experienced 99%+ realworld sustained gigabit throughput on large file transfers on my windows home server using standard CAT 5e kinked up and thrown on the floor(I know right, so much for engineering and installation practices). I also use this for my PFSense firewall box, one port goes to the WAN, and the other goes to my internal gigabit home network so that particular card gets it's workout supplying my connection to the internet day in and day out.

Cons: None other than it requires an open PCI express slot which are becoming more and more common. It's required though as 32 bit PCI would barely would the bandwidth.

Overall Review: Maybe a bit overkill for a home user, but even then I demand reliability and low latency and high throughput performance for the high traffic common nodes on my network. Everything a man could ask for, for a home, small business, enterprise network. I suspect these cards will last a very long time, and will be recycled into various machine builds until 10 Gb Ethernet becomes economical/common for the home user. Even then until disk/internet technology catches up there will not be a need.

A wild beast needing tamed!

Microsoft Windows XP Professional X64 Edition Single Pack
Microsoft Windows XP Professional X64 Edition Single Pack

Pros: Extremely fast interface, she will rip into anything you throw at it. Always ravenous hunger for more data that 32 bit or 64 bit apps may conjure. Farely stable in the GUI windows part. It takes alot to slow this thing down. I have gotten away with running World of Warcraft and EVE online simultaneously with no noticable lag or stuttering and alt tabbing over in the blink of an eyewith a 3.0 intel and 2 Gigs of RAM. They are definitely correct when they say it unlocks 64 bit potential. I had a 3.0 478 Intel P4 with HT not much different other than RAM speed and cache and it would never have managed to play 2 MMPORG's at the same time with just 32 bit pro. Not to mention browse the web with both games running in the background. It's made for Humans that want thier computers to wait on them. Not the Human waiting on the computer.

Cons: This is the part of this animal that needs taming. A little rambunctious and unforgiving sometimes with 32 bit app compatability. And rarely sometimes no response or success at all in installation or operation. 64 bit drivers need to be better developed for this O/S but I think that may be Microsoft's intention to create a "test bed/staging platform" for hardware and software vendors to preperation for Vista. What ever you do don't mess with the registry in X64 and definitely don't disable the DCOM service. Somethings you just don't mess with, I learned this the hard way. Support for some issues may be hard to come by. Only use this product if you have an intermediate or above understanding of Operating systems, hardware, and software. Some 64 bit apps may call for 32bit API's or ActiveX controlls that have not been written for 64 bit programs yet. IE 64 bit is a prime example when trying to do Macromedia Flash or other media players. Do note that a 32 bit version of IE is included.

Overall Review: To break things down into component ratings is as follows: Speed (No joke, it will tear those little Bytes to bits!) ***** Driver support ** (ouch) Overal stability **** 32 bit application stability *** 32 bit compatability *** 64 bit compatability **** Appearance Nothing new there... But familiar. Good money saver, if you don't mind some degree of time investment. Update you drivers regularly and check manufacturers sites at least monthly for driver updates. Keep in mind if you are building a 64 bit system the less mainstream or older your hardware is the less likely you are to find 64 bit drivers for it. This is a bleading edge O/S dont let it cut you later by not checking compatability or avalability of manufacturers drivers. It would be a wise idea to make a checklist of the hardware/software you want and check off each item that you have found to be known good compatable or X64 drivers for. Then you will know if this O/S will meet your needs.

Epic: Mouse of Gaming Gods

Logitech G5 2-Tone 6 Buttons 1 x Wheel USB Wired Laser Mouse
Logitech G5 2-Tone 6 Buttons 1 x Wheel USB Wired Laser Mouse

Pros: Great fit for my small gamer boi hand :P. Surface is grippy and not slimy or greasy fealing. Tweek mode works great/speed control. Ready to rock out of the box, no driver setup needed(even on Windows XP X64), but if you want more speed settings you might want to install em'. The back(thumb) button is handy for PTT mode in team speak or Ventrillo. Durable cord construction. The adjustable wieghts can make the mouse inertia most agile for any strength person. Epic!

Cons: None to be found.

Overall Review: Dont use it with a mousepad, works best on a desk, made of wood, enamle, or plastic so that the pads can do what they do best and glide smoothly and evenly. I would rate this item level 60 Purple on the WoW.quality scale!
