Nice present for non-techy parents

Pros: I bought this for my parents for Christmas who really aren't techno-geeks. I think they should be able to figure this one out, as I already have a bunch of photos and videos loaded onto an SD card. Will read most of the major flash storage media available. This will be a hit for the parents as they love photos of the granddaughter.
Cons: Not the best LCD resolution out there, but for the $$$ (and a free 2 GB SD card) you can't go wrong. Would be nice if it had an option to place the frame vertically.
Overall Review: I was a little frustrated at first trying to figure out why it wasn't displaying images full screen until I changed the settings to display photos on widescreen format. I cropped all the photos to 16:9 (I use Microsoft Digital Image Suite) and the photos look good. Video plays nice too.
Did not properly work

Pros: Nice 18A on 12V rail, plenty of connectors. Thermaltake tech support responsive through emails.
Cons: Would not completely shut down the computer. After doing the 'Start', 'Turn Off Computer', 'Shutdown' sequence the case fans, CPU fans and hard drive would still run, even though the rest of the motherboard powered down. I tried two different power supplies and they both completely shut down the computer. Never seen that one before.
Overall Review: I wish it would have worked, now I have to do the RMA song and dance and pay for return shipping
Works as a replacement for Dell's XPS 8910 core i5-6400

Pros: No issues setting up the system for Linux Mint. Lot's of options in the BIOS.
Cons: None that I can think of.
Overall Review: [RANT ON] I bought this mainly because my 2 year old Dell fried the power supply and motherboard again (once under warranty) and since Dell uses proprietary connectors I decided to do a rebuild since the CPU (Core i5), GPU, disk drives and memory sticks were still in working order. This rebuild is now my Linux machine. To those manufacturers out there using goofy proprietary cables and impossible to find replacement parts without paying a fortune (looking at you Dell and HP) knock it off. And stop with putting the Windows license embedded in the motherboard forcing users to buy a replacement license). [RANT OFF]
Nice inexpensive case

Pros: Lots of space for HDD/SSD's, plenty of motherboard room. Plus it comes with 3 fans installed. Decent basic case for builds/rebuilds (see other thoughts). I didn't have an issue with the hardware (screws) that came with it.
Cons: Would be nice to have 2 more USB ports on the front, but not enough to take off an egg.

Decent computer

Pros: Good computer for the price and comes with Win 7 64bit. Very little bloatware if any. Lots of room for expansion. Great computer for anyone who isn't into hardcore PC gaming. Much faster than my old P4 XP machine.
Cons: Power supply doesn't have enough SATA connectors. I wouldn't push it too hard. Ethernet adapter seems a little flaky and I had to uninstall/reinstall the network adapter and update the drivers for it. I see that this computer is out of stock and discontinued. Too bad.
Overall Review: I replaced the power supply with a 650W Antec TruePower from my other computer which has all the connectors I needed. Didn't use the mouse so I can't comment on that. I'm not a serious PC gamer (that's what the Xbox 360 is for) but it runs RealFlight G5.5 very well. I'm going to update the video card anyways. Definitely worth the $475 (inc shipping).
Another junk drive

Pros: None at all, although the price was decent for a 1TB external drive.
Cons: Stopped working after less than a year of limited use. See other thoughts:
Overall Review: This is the second Seagate drive that quit working on me in less than a week. The first one, a 7200.11 500GB crashed after less than 2.5 years (luckily I found someone who flashed new firmware and got it working). This one failed with less than a year of only limited use backups. After removing it from the case (I tried all the tricks- USB jiggly, different power supply, etc) I put it in a SATA docking station and it won't even spin up. The label shows Barracuda 7200.12 ST31000528AS firmware CC3E. I've had it with Seagate's garbage drives. Luckily I had everything backed up on another drive.
