Check Symnatec KB for fix to lockup

Symantec Endpoint Protection 11.0 - 5 User
Symantec Endpoint Protection 11.0 - 5 User

Pros: Good AV and management Interface. Hated it at first because we were used to configuring older version but farily intuitive once you use it for a bit.

Cons: Lockups

Overall Review: Installed this for our office and fo a client almost simultaneously and immediately started having problems with WS lockups. Reinstall did not resolve. Did some research on Symantec KB and found a fix that will resolve this. Has been working great for several months after applying fix.

RMA - No USB detection or plug n play

Rosewill USB 3.0 External Slim Aluminum 6x Blu-ray Writer Model RDED-12001 BDXL Support w/ Full Cyberlink PowerDVD
Rosewill USB 3.0 External Slim Aluminum 6x Blu-ray Writer Model RDED-12001 BDXL Support w/ Full Cyberlink PowerDVD

Pros: Solid design and compact.

Cons: Would not auto-detect via USB 2.0 or USB 3.0 ports on 4 different computers running Windows 7 Pro 32bit and Windows 7 Pro 64bit. Tested on 2 laptops and 2 workstations on several different USB ports. One of the computers actually detected it but the drivers failed to install. Contacted Rosewill support and they told me it was likely defective. BIGGEST PROBLEM: No drivers available online, device is supposed to be "plug n play" with auto driver installation. This is always risky because if the plug n play doesn't work you have nothing to fall back on. Online drivers would be more appropriate, although the device may not even work with that in the event that it can't even be recognized via USB.

Overall Review: Does anyone else hate how you have to pay for shipping to receive a product, only to pay shipping AGAIN to RMA it. That is a flawed system right there, one of the reasons I hate shopping online. Just payed over $22.00 shipping both ways in return for....wasted time. Nice...

Careful!!

SonicWall 01-SSC-6302 0.8TB Data Protext CDP3440i
SonicWall 01-SSC-6302 0.8TB Data Protext CDP3440i

Pros: Nice concept, easy to configure

Cons: Acquired one of these for an engineering firm we support. Come to find out that with 10-15 engineers working in Autocad all day long the device begins to take their network to a crawl and locks up the AutoCAD applications. Also tried this in two other environments running apps where the files change a lot through the course of the day and had the same result. Sonicwall tech support appears to know this is a limitation on the device but had to DRAG that info out of them...

Overall Review: Great for static data but don't expect to back up database apps like StreetSmarts or American Contractor. Not a viable option for AutoCAD intensive environments either. Did come up with a work around by creating a script to turn the service on at night and get things backed up and then turn the device off before people started working in the morning.
