Most Favorable Review

low price via the newegg shuffle

GIGABYTE AORUS GeForce RTX 3080 MASTER 10GB GDDR6X PCI Express 4.0 ATX Video Card GV-N3080AORUS M-10GD (rev. 3.0) (LHR)
GIGABYTE AORUS GeForce RTX 3080 MASTER 10GB GDDR6X PCI Express 4.0 ATX Video Card GV-N3080AORUS M-10GD (rev. 3.0) (LHR)

Pros: - substantial boost to gaming fps at 2160p over 1080ti on 55" display

Cons: - the card is huge. almost 13 inches long and wide enough to cause problems with other expansion slots (if you have any) it is likely too big for some enclosures. - power hog; paired with an 11700k, my silverstone da800 is barely enough for some games as evidenced by the blinking power leds that gigabyte thoughtfully included on the card. i will be going to a 1000w psu to avoid untimely shutdowns or damage to the da800. - rgb management; without an aorus motherboard, you will want to research 3rd party rgb control software like openrgb to manage the rgb leds.

Overall Review: the newegg shuffle works! i got this card for 1099.99 because of the shuffle. while gigantic the Aorus 3080 Master certainly powers through demanding games like Valheim, No Man's Sky and Battlefield 5. on a 4k 55 inch TV a solid 60 fps from a single card is very much appreciated. that said, this card needs a lot of power. 800 watts is barely cutting it when paired with a 11700k processor. also when managing overclocking, if using the aorus software, remember to click the save icon after clicking the apply button if you want to change those clock settings.

Most Critical Review

Fantastic speeds, but received a rare kit that is failing memtest86

G.SKILL Trident Z Royal Series 64GB (2 x 32GB) 288-Pin PC RAM DDR4 4000 (PC4 32000) Desktop Memory Model F4-4000C18D-64GTRS
G.SKILL Trident Z Royal Series 64GB (2 x 32GB) 288-Pin PC RAM DDR4 4000 (PC4 32000) Desktop Memory Model F4-4000C18D-64GTRS

Pros: This kit really lets your high end 11th gen i7 and up breath. stuttering in games gone, load times dramatically reduced, fps gains of up to 20 depending on the game and previous ram compared to and of course supporting platform hardware. ( star citizen , corsair vengeance lpx ) its got rgb. I am not an rgb person I just wanted something on my motherboards compatibility list and this was the option near the top of that list that I selected. that said the leds on this powered by third party tools like signal rgb are, admittedly, as the kids would say "sick". They are well done. the molded plastic makes them shine like gems.

Cons: immediately upon use my machine started exhibiting strange behavior in games and out. the most jarring were freezing causing alt-f4, blue-screens, and sometimes generally mostly black screens requiring a reboot. the minor glitches were what seemed like the graphics card failing where the screens would go black just sitting in desktop and then it would get signal again. so, at first I chalked it up to motherboard settings so i made sure to go in and turn off XMP, turbo boost, check voltage settings to verify things were not at harmful levels. everything seemed ok. so then as luck would have it I had a second 3080 ( sweet lady luck struck again on the new egg shuffle! ) to test on. and because of that same bundle win a second motherboard. both boards and both video cards were exhibiting similar behavior. the only constants were the PSU and ram. since the PSU was new and I wasnt getting straight up shutdowns, i began to look at diagnosing a ram problem. and lo and behold 21 errors before the first pass was done in memtest86. plugged in my previous kit (after testing those because well might as well. they passed.) all the issues described above went away, but unfortunately so did all those performance gains.

Overall Review: I would recommend this product, because memory being bad like this is extremely rare. I am waiting on newegg to process this return in hopes I can re-visit this review soon.

its ok.

GIGABYTE Z590 AORUS MASTER LGA 1200 Intel Z590 ATX Motherboard with Triple M.2, PCIe 4.0, USB 3.2 Gen2X2 Type-C, Intel WIFI 6E, AQUANTIA 10GbE LAN
GIGABYTE Z590 AORUS MASTER LGA 1200 Intel Z590 ATX Motherboard with Triple M.2, PCIe 4.0, USB 3.2 Gen2X2 Type-C, Intel WIFI 6E, AQUANTIA 10GbE LAN

Pros: - it works. - rgb lights are compatible with better third party rgb software. - so far, their motherboards have been pretty solid. - Bluetooth

Cons: - silly motherboard options on by default. processor 'optimizations' that change the behavior of your processor cores. I can't see this feature being helpful unless your are benchmarking for a specific situation. - built in software / download prompt. just disabled it in bios. - lack of updates / notifications about intel Management Engine firmware vulnerabilities (it seems its mostly about wireless so it doesn't affect me to much. I only use Bluetooth occasionally. still, if you are going to work with intel, you should actually work with intel. on the flipside intel needs to implement some kind of SLA with gigabyte that says either provide a ME update in a timely manner or inform your customers on the support site for the mobo why the update may or may not apply. and then if gigabyte doesn't comply, that SLA needs to have something to hold gigabyte accountable. as of this writing Intel's CSME tool reports that my Z590 board is vulnerable based on the available download that gigabyte provides on their support site.

Overall Review: this z590 motherboard has been solid and has not had issues. the cons are kinda just informational at this point. if you are going to buy a new machine you are probably looking at lga1700 anyway.

PCIE 4.0 build

Intel Core i7-11700K - Core i7 11th Gen Rocket Lake 8-Core 3.6 GHz LGA 1200 125W Intel UHD Graphics 750 Desktop CPU Processor - BX8070811700K

Pros: - support for pcie 4.0 standard that the NVIDIA 30 series video cards use - works with socket 115X series air coolers - windows 11 compatible

Cons: - none at this time

Overall Review: - its a great processor to handle gaming and streaming / gameplay recording.
