Love this drive....after the firmware update that is
Pros: Good price after rebate. Great name brand, blistering performance, and best of all...MADE IN THE USA! Patriot tech support is awesome!! I may buy another one of these and run a raid config or wait until next spring and buy a larger capacity drive when the prices come down some.
Cons: Worked well for about a week before I started getting blue screens "KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR". First I thought it was memory related but up on more research, I discovered that it was related to the new SSD. Contacted their tech support and confirmed that it was the SSD and it required a firmware flash. Since then, no more issues.
Overall Review: I went from an OCZ 60GB SATA II SSD to this SATA III SSD and I gotta say...WOW!!! From the moment my PC posts, I get to the Windows 7 login screen in exactly 7 seconds. Furthermore, once I login, there is no hourglass before I can start working. All startup items have already started and I'm ready to go. MS Office 2010 starts instantly. In conjunction with my i7-2600K and 8GB of memory...it takes 1/4 the time for video rendering using the SSD. Love it....love it....love it! What are you waiting for...buy this thing! I had to knock off one egg for the need for a firmware flash. Newegg is, as always the best! If you can catch it on sale plus with the rebate, this is a steal! Plus...it's made in the USA!!!
Do not buy unless you are on top of your wireless router
Pros: Small, easy to install
Cons: If you move a room or two away from your wireless router, forget it. You can see the wireless network but any hopes of connecting to it are futile. While setting up device, I was right beside of my router and experienced no issues, except it would not connect automatically to my router after a reboot. I would have to manually tell it to connect to my router and type in my WPA passphrase....EVERY TIME! This alone turned me off of it, but knowing now that it will not connect up to my wireless network less than 20 feet away is the final nail in the coffin.
Overall Review: Spend more for a quality product unless you are using your wireless device less than 5 feet from your wireless router. waste....pure waste!
PLANAR 27" LCD
Pros: Nice size, and look. No issues with it at ALL. Out of the box with no dead pixels.
Cons: Backlight bleed around edges is pretty annoying. I knew there would be some, but I should have spent the extra money on an LED monitor. The bottom and top are the worst. Thank goodness I keep my taskbar on the bottom.
OCZ SSD 60GB Thumbs up
Pros: Installed onto old P35 Gigabyte motherboard rig running Windows 7 ultimate. Installed with no hitches and with a noticable speed increase. Boot up and shut down times are much quicker in comparison to my 7200 rpm HDD or even my older 74GB raptor. I just ordered a larger 120GB OCZ SSD for my new gaming rig being built. I expect the same results with that install
Cons: I've read quite a bit of articles indicating that some of these OCZ drives just fail for no reason. Let's hope I don't have that issue. So far, so good!
Before you buy, READ ALL REVIEWS!
Pros: They were on sale with free shipping. Memorex is usually a good brand. Bought from Newegg!
Cons: The first 3 discs I have burned have failed! Used three different burners, tried burning 3 different batches of video ( all different contents ) and all have errored out somewhere between the 1st and 2nd layer or shortly after starting the 2nd layer burn. These things are not worth the trial and error of purchase.
Overall Review: Go with the Verbatim media. They have a proven track records and are only $8 more plus $4 shipping. It's worth it!!! ...or try another brand if you are a lucky gambler!
Windows Vista Home Premium
Pros: Vista is new to me but I do know this is the best one to get for most people. Cheapest I could find was on Newegg. I buy all my stuff from this place! Yay for Newegg!
Cons: Microsoft Product! What more can I say!
Overall Review: The only reason I need Vista is for DirectX 10 gaming!
