Neat solution to graphics card PSU needs
Pros: Compact and good looking unit. I have this external to my OptiPlex 760 Desktop powering a low profile Sparkle 9800 graphics card. Made up power plugs etc and have the unit switching on and off using the standard PSU 5v rail. Very pleaed with the performance.
Cons: The coloured led setup is silly. I painted over them to reduce the X brightness but I might end up just using tape to completely eliminate them. The fans are probably louder than needed. Given my card will only ever draw 25A of the rated 35A of this PSU I might look at slowing them down a little.
Overall Review: Should also note both of the fans on the front pull air in and push out the back of this unit - not a problem for me as I have this external but might be an issue for some who mount this internally as intended.
Very good performance
Pros: This card (after a bit of physical trimming) works very well in my Dell OptiPlex 760 Desktop with E8600/3.33GHz and 8Gb RAM. My son can now run stuff like Supreme Commander without any system issues at all. Runs like his Xbox! The card does run hot when loaded but the fan works well and is quiet under normal load (has not sped up during games, is sometimes loud for a short time when the system is booted up). The air flow through the OptiPlex enclosure is excellent so I am not concerned. I had to add a Booster X5 PSU externally to power the 12v needs of the card as the desktop only has the 255w PSU. All works great, four cooling fans in all, a little louder than my Samsung blu-ray player but not enough to disturb my use of iTunes.
Cons: The card is longer than the low profile standard to acommodate the power circuitry. The heat sink on the power side takes up more headroom than really needed. To fit the card in the Optiplex 760 Desktop I had to trim the heatsink a bit.
Overall Review: This is a great card, has given me fantastic graphics capability in a low profile system for my home entertainment center.
