Epson service stinks!

Pros: Was a great scanner for a while. Bought this to migrate my extensive 35mm and large format negatives to digital. Digital ICE works great. Saved me hours of extra touch-up trying to remove dust. Unfortunately, ICE doesn't work for Black & White. The software took a bit to figure out, but it is usable. As usual, Newegg price & delivery was fantastic!
Cons: Epson service is TERRIBLE! The unit developed a defect within a couple of months: A red line is now added to all my films. I suspect a bad back-light. Epson has NO 800 number. If you want to speak to a person, you must call (banker's hours) long distance and wait on hold for 10-20 min. Online service is bad too. The first suggestion was re-installing software! Their final answer is to deliver the unit to some "local" repair shop some 150 miles away, with a copy of the receipt to prove warranty in effect.
Overall Review: As part of the "final" solution, Epson also indicated that it might be cheaper to buy a new unit. They are probably correct. However, it will be a long time before I will buy anything else made by Epson. If this unit hadn't broken, it would have been given a much better review.
Not reliable

Pros: Worked with Suse Linux out of the box (when it worked).
Cons: Lasted about 2-3 hours. In the middle of a disk to disk copy, started taking I/O errors. After that, any disk connected to the card will not read (solid I/O error). I would return for an RMA, but the cost of return shipping vs the cost of the card probably doesn't pay.
Overall Review: I wish they made stuff better. I bought this to hold off upgrading a Motherboard that only has Sata II. I probably will give up on the add-on card idea...
Headset OK, Mic NG

Pros: Headset sounds great. Nice padding, sits comfortably.
Cons: The Mic appears NOT to be shielded. Got a LARGE amount of hum from the mic. Audio output levels for the mic also are fairly low.
Overall Review: With the amount of hum (gets louder if you put your hand near the mic) I figured there was a broken cable and RMAed the unit. Newegg's RMA process is easy (and quick). However, The new unit has the same issue. I'm assuming this is a design flaw. I wanted this for voip operations. Not very usable with a noisy mic. Doesn't really pay to ship it back again, so I'm out the cost of the unit and the return shipping.
